No one knows what they are doing

    Personal Banker I (Current Employee)
    Tamarac, FL

ProsBenefits package is nice. PTO and prescription drug. Pay is ok

ConsIt is a sales position. Customers do not matter, hit your goal at all costs!! Every hour your manager asks how many accounts you have. Managers do not help with customer issues, they pass the issues on to the bankers and are not very well trained. Most managers do not have recent experience as bankers or tellers. They do not know company policy and state it is their job to "help get the numbers" not to help with customer issues. Constant misinformation---policies are changing daily. Commission is more or less unobtainable.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrain your staff and care about the customer. They are why we have jobs. Take responsibility.

Great opportunity for young male sales people.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Tampa, FL

    ProsGreat benefits. Salary is competitive.

ConsManagement focuses on sales results only. Little training is provided to employees that are competent and responsible to improve their sales abilities. These employees are threatened and quickly managed out.

Advice to Senior ManagementManage your resources by identifying employee talents and provide opportunities for employees to get better at their jobs. Many good employees have left based on narrow minded leadership.

was great until Wells Fargo got on board

Personal Banker II – Registered (Current Employee)
    Naples, FL

ProsGreat discounts on banking services and loans. Used to be alot more pros until Wells Fargo took over and ruined a great banking model.

ConsWas a great place to work until Wells took over. Wells cut the ability to make commission and started getting rid of all highest paid employees and hiring people for half the money. Training went to s@@t too as they only provide new hires with about three weeks of training. Let's just say they get what they paid for as half the new hires either quit or are fired withing the first six months. My clients that get to deal with the "new employees" always complain how incompetent they are. This approach to business does not work, or at least it does not work in affluent market areas as most of the clients started jumping ship as soon as wells started making changes.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou get what you paid for and it will come back to bite you in the ass. Everyone is leaving because they are afraid of being let go for making too much money.

You never know when you have to stay late or when you can take time off

    Personal Banker (Current Employee)
    Sarasota, FL

Prosmicro managed, 3 months black out for pto, time off if approved not timely

Consno real chance of making goals or making commisions- set the bar so high- hours of calling customers by phone

Advice to Senior ManagementIts human nature to not give when you force employees to work 6 days a week floating holidays are joke

I wish Wachovia was not a Wells Fargo Company...

    Teller (Current Employee)
    Gainesville, FL

Pros-Opportunity to grow if you are sales oriented and make a good impression to upper management.
-Decent salary (negociate if you have experience)

Cons-The company culture is too sales oriented. Upper management and even branch management does not care if its a slow day or if you don't work much.. they expect core sales goals ot "solutions" to be met daily.
-We did not receive a pay raise the past year
-Wells Fargo's benefits package is horrible
-Bonuses seem non-existent, they dont compare to previous Wachovia structure.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employee's, no one is happy. Have a training program in place to help with sales. You can't expect people to sale without training.

    "The Puppet Makers"

    (Current Employee)
    Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsPaid time off and benefits, with the exception of the company stopping pensions since Wellsfargo takeover. Better than unemployment.

ConsNo communication between manegment and subordinates, low pay for expectations, poor incentive program, unqualified management, promotions based on who you know as opposed to qualifications for the job..You must be a Wachovia/Wellsfargo cheerleader with no opinion of your own to get ahead.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at your employees as assets instead of liabilities, stop thinking only of your own pockets Try improving your own management skills before you try to micro manage your employees. Lose the attitude " your lucky you have a job". Stop managing by fear.

    Great People - Culture Changing

    Vice President (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

Pros- Most individuals want to make a difference
    - Opportunity to work in many areas of country
    - Medical Benefits are very fairly priced

Cons- Corporate Culture is in flux
    - Some leaders tend to be myopic; negatively impacting stakeholders
    - Training and advancement somewhat limited outside of San Fran, Minneapolis, and Charlotte

Advice to Senior ManagementMove away from mindset of "this is the way we have always done it" to a vision-based orientation that leverages team member skills, abilities, and strengths.

    Teller position with Wachovia

    Teller (Former Employee)
    Lake Worth, FL

ProsThe hours were great! Banker's hours and bank holidays are true blessings

ConsNot as flexible with school schedules as they say they are

Advice to Senior ManagementPay tellers more per hour to reduce money losses. Tellers are responsible for upwards of $25,000 per day being paid only $12 per hour...

Experience in 3 main areas of this company.. best position yet!!

    Administrative Assistant (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsIn the community banking retail/admin area, the Senior Leaders are very supportive in learning your strengths and your desires for your future career path. They are also very encouraging towards community service involvement- in fact, fulltime employees, (after 4 or 5- not sure- sorry! years of service), can take a 4 mo. leave to help their favorite non-profit organization fulltime!!

Communication between leaders and team members is very strong- daily, weekly, and montly conference calls, emails, and visits are the norm. Everyone works as a true team and helps eachother out.

ConsIf someone is averse to change, they may hesitate joining the Wachovia team for the time being. Wachovia is currently merging with Wells Fargo and although both companies are making a tremendous effort in order to ensure a smooth transition, someone averse to change could have a problem here.

Advice to Senior ManagementI truly think that the Management in the Community Banking sector is already doing a fantastic job on motivating their team and driving us toward the same goals and purpose.

A great place to learn the finance industry

    Personal Banker (Current Employee)
    Jacksonville, FL

ProsGreat hours. As long as we continue to close at 4. Great 401k, amazing paid time off. very competitive salary with good bonus structure

ConsWells Fargo is starting to hire unqualified managment, people who are not familiar with banking. Retail bank is just interested in gaining market share.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring in those familiar with banking when they are going into the managment role.
