I worked at Wakefern Food as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Employees are very friendly and tend to stay in the company for many years. I was an intern and everyone welcomed me as a part of the company. The work was challenging and yet the environment still didn't feel stressful.

I have been working at Wakefern Food full-time

    Pros

The job security is great. The benefits are also great but the pay is extremely low.

    Cons

Once again, pay is insultingly low. Particularly to everyone below management level. Everything is political and based on who you know and who likes you.

I have been working at Wakefern Food full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The people who work here are like a family. Everyone is very caring. The benefits package is exceptional compared to many other companies' packages. This is a very stable company that is growing in number of stores.

    Cons

Expect to work hard. There are not enough people for the amount of work expected. No plans to add help in the divisions that have the most work.
It's not an easy environment to work in. There are big expectations and if you do not comply, you're not promoted or considered for promotion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Foster people who are loyal to the company instead of try to break them

I worked at Wakefern Food as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros, if you don't click with your department, suck up to your boss, you are not gonna get anywhere. Does not matter if you work like slave no one will notice, unless u suck up to your boss. This is what happened to me. I did everything by the book, they said great job woohoo, next day ended the assignment for me. Remember all of you Wakeferners, we are all people and require same respect. God bless this company.

    Cons

Horrible working environment, disregard you if you don't click with the group. Workers will talk so much crap behind your back, and they will think it's alright. You open your mouth once, and you are fired, if they don't like you. HORRIBLE COMPANY TO WORK FOR.....DONT BOTHER.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire all the management, rehire people who speak English, don't allow trash talking in the office, let temps be, treat temps like people, instead of trash, have some respect to what we do for your company.

    Pros

The people were great, learned a lot from people and very grateful for the opportunity given with no experience when I first came out of college.

    Cons

Personal growth, promotions, it was difficult to move if you weren't cool with the right people. But even if you move up, the pay was still considerably low compare to other companies.
