So so

Sales Associate (Former Employee)

Conslow pay
unsuppoortive managers
not too much room for advancement

Broken equipment, unreasonable quotas, daily overtime.

Second Shift Unloader (Current Employee)
Fredericton, NB (Canada)

I have been working at WalMart Canada as a contractor for less than a year

ProsCo-workers are great, it's easy to learn what to do.

ConsPower-jack has been broken for over a year, causing us to manually move pallets weighing up to a metric tonne.
Pay is mediocre compared to other departments, it's the same as cashiers, and electronics workers who never have to lift incredibly heavy objects.
Description says to lift up to 50lbs, actual number is nearing 120lbs
Increased pressure by management to "speed up", we are already working well past our shifts to keep up.
Unable to get benefits even though I have full time hours, due to being a temp worker.

Advice to Senior ManagementRethink your strategies, better the pay rate.

Didn't like it

Walmart Cashier (Former Employee)
Montreal, QC (Canada)

I worked at WalMart Canada part-time for less than a year

ProsGood for a student schedule

ConsThe internal management, not able to have full time when you want to do full time, same job over and over... When I quitted I got a phone call from a supervisor that was not mine to get a bunch of junk like what I couldn't quit like that after 3 months and that I should do my full month schedule already scheduled....

Advice to Senior ManagementListen more to your employees and it doesn't mean you are a manager that world turn around yourself.

Absolutely Horrible

Deli/Hot Food Associate (Current Employee)

I have been working at WalMart Canada part-time for less than a year

ProsThe 10% discount, that's it. There isn't anything else positive about working at walmart.

Cons-Would get scheduled on days you booked off months in advance
-Management wouldn't discipline people for not showing up for their shift
-Left alone to manage the whole department on busy days
-Scheduled to work every weekend for many months at a time
-Terrible work environment with horrendous coworkers
-They don't properly train you, they just throw you into the job right away and expect you to know everything
-Very poor management, associates were doing a lot of tasks the managers should've been doing
-Supervisor's were unnecessarily cruel when confronting associates for doing a task wrong

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to actually manage your employees and run a business, and stop taking out your personal problems on your associates.

Pretty relaxed environment

Customer Service Specialist (Current Employee)
Markham, ON (Canada)

I have been working at WalMart Canada part-time for less than a year

ProsIt was a fairly relaxed environment, not a whole lot of pressure, coworkers and management were nice. Not an extremely demanding job by any means.

ConsSometimes it could be a little boring, on holidays it would get extremely busy and sometimes we would be understaffed. Could be a bit more organized during these days.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement could help make the job easier by sending us emails on the day of holiday sales to ensure smoother transactions and customer service, could be a bit more accommodating in terms of hours and not overschedule.
