Pros
-job security, opportunity for advancement
Cons
Low starting salary for all levels of associates
Pros
Walmart will teach you to control the process in store and give you an excellent knowledge in general merchandise. Very result driven
Cons
Very big company copied on the American model. A lot of check lists and report to digest. Need a lot of investment in time.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper mgt is very competent.
Pros
If you work fast and show willingness to do, easy to get recognized. No knowledge or competence required, just do it. This is a great place for less educated people.
Cons
You might loose your educational competency and knowledge once you join wal-mart hoopla. There is no need to be sharp either in communication nor on numeracy.
Advice to Senior Management
Utilize your educated and high numeracy associate in appropriate place such as communicating financials, resolving management associate conflicts, publications and public relations.
Pros
They're everywhere, which is convenient.
Cons
Too busy and too many things.
Advice to Senior Management
Be nice to employees.
Pros
pay on time and with some limited benefit..
Cons
more responsibility, more accountability, no respect, not very helpful and less percentage of wages increase.
Advice to Senior Management
less pick on associate in-order to satisfy one needed. Listen and trust your associates respect them as a valuable asset of the company.
Pros
The people that work with you are great and there some nice managers and higher level staff. They are flexible on when to take breaks for certain departments.
Cons
Managers tend to think little of the associates. Not enough respect between management and store staff. Chances of moving up the ladder are very minimal.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to treat employees with respect and kindness.
Pros
10 % discount on most everything in walmart including USA
freindly environment means that you don't have to mind too much.
Cons
save money is not for the products on the store only, also for the employees, do not expect some higher salary
Advice to Senior Management
They know what to do but they do not like to try because they are happy wth the current situation.
Pros
Huge company
Good for logistics, supply chain, buyers and store managers.
Cons
Company lagging behing in term of vacations, benefits and flextime. In fact, forget about working from home.
work 9 hours a day,i.e. 8 hours + an hour lunch.
Advice to Senior Management
Blah,blah
Pros
there are a lot of career opportunities between store operations and corporate; fun, high energy environment; very open communication at corporate level.
Cons
environment is extremely demanding and fast paced at corporate level. At store level it is very challenging with the demands of the job, the flexibility required with hours and relocation to succeed, and the high sales volume, not to mention the number of associates working in a store and the amount of customers.
Advice to Senior Management
"listen to your people at the grass roots level" and make the changes needed particularly at store level....burnout, high expectations at mgt level combined with low pay and no worklife balance is what makes people leave. If you are driven & strong and dedicate your life to WM, you will definitely succeed and be recognized.
Pros
They hire students; it's a crummy job overall but it's a good way to gain some work experience during highschool
Cons
Bad hours, low wages, poor management, and of course, dealing with customers! Don't believe what management says: sometimes the customer is dead wrong.
Advice to Senior Management
I know that WalMart is supposed to be a big customer service machine, but a word of advice to managers: if you side against your staff too often, it's going to bite you.
