Pros
Many opportunities to grow
Strong brand that people trust
Great downtown office
Smart, young group in eCommerce
Cons
Large company bureaucracy can be tough to navigate
Advice to Senior Management
Keep those communication channels open
Pros
good benefits, discount is nice
Cons
unreasonable tasks, terrible policies that allow for customer abuse, terrible scheduling on holidays and slow days
Advice to Senior Management
they wont take anyones advice they just want their money
Pros
Name recognition, good people, innovative in some areas, some really hard working people, can easily "hide", some areas people don't work hard, good new leadership but will be a few years before that big ship will turn
Cons
not performance driving, all people treated the same no matter what the outcome of their performance, very reactive culture, not strategic, very few hard working people (who leadership works to death because they trust them), too many people not held accountable for their work. HR very legally focused vs. performance focused.
Advice to Senior Management
think ahead, be strategic, prioritize, restructure HR so they are aligned with business needs, eliminate ER attorney population, too many attorneys being paid tons of money to do simple ER work and causing way too much inefficient work and waste for others
Pros
- very nice people
- well established company
- great management
- many places to go for lunch near by
Cons
-benefits and salary are not competitive
- not a young culture
- outdated policies and technology
- location in suburbs
Pros
Pay raises somewhat consistant, not too difficult, 15% discount on most items
Cons
Rude customers, expected availablility, open on all major holidays
Pros
Promotes well
Female & Minority friendly
Cons
If you're good at office politics--this is the place to work! If you're amazing that gossiping and complaining other people work--this is a great fit for you!
This company doesn't care if you're good at your work, they care how well you can suck up to senior management and complain about other people.
The environment of this company is very unhealthy
Advice to Senior Management
Should not listen to other workers complain but evaluate individual's working abilities.
Pros
Secure company due to time it has been in business
Competitive pay low to mid range for positions
Benefits are competitive.
Cons
Behind in the use of emerging technologies to leverage their business in the industry.
Products and services are not driven or focused on the various levels of customer sectors they are trying to market to
Company is sluggish in responding to industry changes and demands
Career Development is very difficult if not non existent for those who are business minded. Most opportunities are limited to clinical expertise. They need more business minded executives driving this business.
Marketing campaigns are weak, unimaginative and only moderatly effective.
Company needs to pay attention to and work towards goals that seperate them from the top 100 companies to work for. Unimpressive is that they make the fortune 500 list but they don't rank in the top 100 to work for.
Advice to Senior Management
Get all divisions on board towards a single mission and strategy Ie. legal dept.
Work to find a niche in the industry not by following others but rather by asking what is next.
Having a vision is good, having a strategy and plan to get there would be better.
Listen to your employees and build services based on what you consumers are telling you. Your goals up to this point have strictly been aligned with what YOUR CURRENT capabilites are. Focus on what your customers want and expand your horizons in the capabilities department. Don't ask what you already have, ask where you should be going and what can you build to get there.
Pros
Great company, great track record, great resume building experiences, great exposure to various software, good pay, solid principles and core values, proud history, well-known in the industry, allow and encourage movement within the company.
Cons
Lack of translatable vision, lack of direct management skills, inability to facilitate team dynamics and change, more focus on tenure than demonstrated ability, more focused on projects than on people.
Advice to Senior Management
Take your people responsible. Don't focus on tenure when deciding involvement of team members. Don't try to make people "fit" into situations they are not well suited for at the cost of the team. Don't play favourites. Be accountable to your employees.
Pros
easy work, flexiable schedule, no hassle
Cons
minimum wage, work nights and weekends
Advice to Senior Management
understand you employee and work towards it it.
Pros
Good communication, great people. Training opportunities are good.
Cons
Corporate culture has changed recently, seems less professional, less of a "family company." Too many new WalMart hires.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize your employees, sincerely, consistently across divisions. People want to stay with Walgreens forever. Make them want to stay.
