Pros
You will meet great people, be busy and have incredible experiences dealing with employees and clientele.
Cons
Poor management skills from managers and dm's. Poor receiving procedures and stocking techniques. Poor and lax procedures in dealing with problematic customers, leading into negative control of shrink, something the stress incessantly. And one last thing, way too much favoritism in all ranks of employment!
Advice to Senior Management
You will be an over-payed stock- person, almost to the point of abuse.
Pros
exceptional customer service ,work like a family ,good benefits and profit sharing options
Cons
working for 40 hour a week is dream as service clerk with in first 3 years
Advice to Senior Management
Kindly reviews the feedback of the employee
Pros
Walgreens has an awesome training program and a true open-door policy. They hold high expectations for their management teams, but they provide more than enough avenues and training to help the employee to succed. MGTs and higher make good wages.
Cons
For management, the time you want off is not easily acheived unless a very major issue has emerged. For standard employees, however, it's pretty easy to adjust your schedule. Each store is on a budget, so overtime has become almost non-existent for hourly employees.
Advice to Senior Management
I have been hearing lately that MGT positions are on the way out, being replaced by Team Leaders. Don't do it, Walgreens! Don't be like CVS! I have heard ex-CVS management say, "I'm glad I came to Walgreens." I have never even heard of an ex-Walgreens management member saying, "I'm glad I came to CVS."
Pros
Even in tough economic times, Walgreens continues to create jobs and promote. The offer room to grow, and mentoring from management is available as well.
Cons
All warehouse positions are same rate of pay. This allows people to work in other areas with out having to adjust pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Good management, with a lot of experience. Each manager that I work with brings something different and unique to the table.
Pros
Great Benefits - Health Care, Profit Sharing, Discounts, etc. They have great store systems put into to place so that we can be on the cutting edge in our fields. They are striving to be more than just a pharmacy, but also a medical institution for people to rely on.
Cons
Long hours to meet the needs of the business. Promotions aren't explained as to why a particular person received them over someone who may have been in the position longer. They continue to take away budgeted hours in the stores so that those in salary positions continue to put more and more hours in to make up the difference. There are fewer and fewer stores being opened so that there are less opportunities for advancement in the company.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be more work taken out of the store, so that those in salaried positions can have a life outside of work.
Pros
Biggest pharmacy chain in the country
Cons
Short staffing resulting in long waits and dissatisfied customers, and overworked and abused employees, lack of sympathy from management
Advice to Senior Management
Respond to customer complaints if you care about customers regarding short staffing; better staff your pharmacies and front stores
Pros
Pay, benefits. pay benefits and pay.
Cons
The job and management are incredibly bad.
Advice to Senior Management
STOP MICROMANAGING
Pros
From a managers perspective the pay is good (that's where they keep you locked in)
Cons
Hours worked (atleast ten hours a day)
Lucky if you get two days off (usually one, but zero during the holidays)
Lack of communication between upper management
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your managers with respect (not just as someone who is underneath you with bad work ethic)
Pros
Pay if you are a manager, Benefits, Scheduling flexibility if you are not a manager, paid vacation and holidays, low enough expectations if you are not a manager
Cons
Manager scheduling is unfair and very inconsistent, all in one week you'll work 4 different schedules. Employees (not managers) get paid minimum wage and some of the good workers are taken advantage of, getting paid the same amount as the slackers. Unstable company
Advice to Senior Management
Consistency is really lacking in this company. Be more honest, don't promise or make people believe that the promotion possibilities are endless when they are clearly not anymore. I understand that they were at one point, when the company was more stable and prosperous.
Pros
Bosses communicate regularly with you about what they expect.
Cons
A service clerk usually bears the brunt of the work. Expect to know how to do every possible job there is to do there, and to be able to do it quickly so closing the store doesn't take a long time.
