I have been working at Walgreens part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Easy enough
Like any job, you'll find people you like.
    Store isn't too big
Decent discount, better than other stores I've seen.

    Cons

    Very very corporate-oriented.
If you don't work with the person that makes the schedule, at least in my case, you'll never get hours because they don't know how you work.
Hours constantly get cut despite Walgreens being very well off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be sure to praise your employees as much as you do otherwise.

    Pros

    Meet nice people and co-workers.

    Cons

    Poor pay.
Upper management does not seem to care about the well being or the opinions of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it out your head that saying "thank you, be well" is not the only thing that defines a good employee.

    Pros

I Love majority of the people I work with in the office and in the pharmacies. Mon - Fri, no weekends or holidays

    Cons

To much racism and politics, don't pay what your worth. Management wants u to do to much with not enough help or pay. THANKLESS JOB

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company claims they thrive on "engagement" don't just engage your staff when they do something wrong

    Pros

There is room for growth if you are willing to work, follow policies and are coachable. If you are committed to your work, you shall reap the benefits thereof.

    Cons

Getting the store in the perfect condition I would like it to be such as having all merchandise on the floor if they are available in the stockroom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Longer training days before leaving staff to be on their own. There should be a detailed itemized least of the atreas for training and each should be checked off with the staff in training as he or she confirms that they have been trained in that area.

A job that does not support its people, no matter what the issue some are always wrong, unless you are a pet. Worse than

    Pros

Pay appropriate but the staff really deserves combat pay with the jobs they try to do all at one time. People need the work and the company presents a great front. They appear to be a perfect group until you get caught inside and look from the inside out. They normally have openings because you can be removed for no real reason, just get on someone's wrong side and see what happens. Culture and values appear wonderful, but it's lip service. You work for something and they take it away. Not the way to run a good business in any economy.

    Cons

Hostile atmosphere due to lack of support and dog eat dog attitude. Some of the people that control this state believe they are superior to everyone however the opposite is true, they do not know how to manage. Several manage by sheer intimidation and retaliation, which is supposed to be against company policy and the laws of this nation. Humiliation and degradation are really what happens. It is like old state politics and Louisiana's reputation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope your are unaware that middle management breaks the law on a regular basis as a normal course of doing business.

    Pros

Room to excel and move up as far as you want to go.

    Cons

Can be on your family life demanding, but that requires personal maturity to strike a balance between personal and professional life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do NOT lose what Walgreens is built on! Maintain and nurture relationships with vendors and employees. Don't let corporate indifference and the value of a dollar be the sole motivating factor of what happens inside the company.
