I have been working at Walgreens

    Pros

Flexible work schedule with varying tasks to keep things fresh, you meet some good people, pretty nice benefits.

    Cons

You have to work holidays, they don't want to pay overtime and you have to play the game in order to get promotion. Not always based on work done, it is also somewhat of a popularity contest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to being on the floor with your team if you want to receive the respect you seek.

I have been working at Walgreens

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Easy interview, Supportive coworkers, Flexible schedule(in my case)

    Cons

The people in the corporate office are fairly out of touch with what is actually going on in the stores. So they push unrealistic expectations on their employees and get disappointed when we get customer complaints when we aren't performing optimally. Oh, how could i forget, they give you 7 cent raises.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time

    Pros

Great job to have through college. They are very flexible with your schedule.
They demand a lot from their employees, which helps prepare you for your career once you graduate.

    Cons

Corporate does not staff stores with enough hours to deal with workflow. This can lead to poor customer service.
Not much room for growth within the company.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay and the 8 hour days. The computer system is the best in the business.

    Cons

The biggest challenge is that there are a lot of tasks and very little help to complete them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much time spent on micromanaging the process. If individuals achieve the goals that they are giving, does it really matter how they got there? Upper level management has no clue what it is like to work in the field.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Team members great to work with
    Work is enjoyable
    Health center on campus

    Cons

Too many systems many of which are antiquated, not easy to use, or cannot be useful without a team of analysts to extract, clean up, and interpret the data
Processes are generally undefined and/or undocumented; owners are resistant to update or improve them
    Leadership seems inexperienced and/or disorganized
A lot of change but change management done very poorly
    Not much opportunity for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perform adequate analysis before redesigning any organization and/or processe
Communicate much better throughout any change
Be aware of change fatigue and pace changes adequately
Provide adequate resources/team members to fit the workload
Systems, systems, systems (good ones - not cheap ones)
