I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

if you get a good pharmacy manager they are willing to give you good vacation time. Overtime helps compensate for low wage

    Cons

no matter if you are certified or not you do a lot of work for a low wage. Walgreens is a corporation who cares for themselves not the wellbeing of the employees. Low wages with not nice customers at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be kind to employees they do a lot of work for a low wage.

I worked at Walgreens part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Good pharmacy technician wage.

    Cons

Lack of communication between employees and management. It's mostly retail, so even if you're a trained professional in the pharmacy, it still feels like retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer some kind of benefits to part time employees.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Fun people, no accountability, easy

    Cons

Everything else....from the work you do or are given permission to do, to the amount of compensation you receive. As a member of "management" I am actually just a stockboy in a vest and tie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well apparently I'm considered a manager but on paper and in practice I'm only a supervisor? I know its not the store managers fault and is only doing what corporate says, which is the main reason this company is going into the ground. Especially after "field transformation" happened and promotional opportunities were lost and wages capped, there is no incentive to go above and beyond. And to corporate management.... make it about the employees and customers, not about the shareholders and you'd have a more respected company and employees that would give you more.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Customers come back to me because I know my department. Met a lot of nice people along the way.

    Cons

Management at my store is HORRIBLE. Store manager is always sitting in the office. Feels like she belittles the entire staff. Nothing is ever good enough!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As a senior beauty advisor I don't need to be talked to like I don't know what I'm doing or that you think I'm doing a bad job. I've worked here for 15 years and on the verge of quitting cuz of poor management!

I have been working at Walgreens

    Pros

They are very willing to work with your schedule and will not degrade you if you have to miss a day or if you have to get a schedule change.

    Cons

Employees who don't meet the company's humanly impossible goals are talked down in a very humiliating manner. Experienced employees get a whopping raise of 10 cents at the end of the year (and that's if the management feels like it.). A training program is nonexistent (employees learn through the humiliation of customers yelling at them). If you do an outstanding job the company gives you a free drink with a cost limit of $1.49. The entire morale of everyone in the store is always lower than it should be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your experienced and loyal employees better benefits that 10 cents a year. Develop a training program and utilize it.

    I worked at Walgreens

    Pros

    Simple
    8 hour shifts
Easy to request a day off

    Cons

    Boring
"Hello welcome to Walgreens" to everyone that enters.
Have to say "thank you and be well".
    Managers were rude.
Pay "shift leaders" way low, they basically did everything a manager does but more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the environment more fun, don't be so serious all the time. Treat all employees with respect.
