    Pros

great staff, and 15% off merchandise 25% off Walgreen's brand.

    Cons

physically demanding,.the pay isn't very good, over worked, can be extremely busy at times, ability to multi-task is a complete must, low pay scale, heavy work load, hours get cut constantly, the hours are random every week.healthcare expensive, everything keeps getting worse at the store level.

    Pros

25% discount on Walgreens brand Items/15% on everything else. Fair Scheduling, health/dental/Vision insurance is pretty good but not paid for 100%.

    Cons

Understaffed a lot. customers are tend to be sick because they are in the store to get medicine. as the business grows, corporate expects more with no more compensation

    Advice to Management

allow for more budgeted hours for employees to work in busy stores to allow for employees to be able to take their time with every customer instead of rushing through each customer because there is a line of people waiting for your help. it gets draining and frustrating as an employee and as a customer.

    Pros

Fun place to work and valuable retail experience for career growth.

    Cons

Bad store management, overly tasked, and many scheduling conflicts.

    Advice to Management

Don't make all of the employees under you do all of the work (including yours); especially, when you have the time to help out and do some yourself.

    Pros

Company with a stable business model that will be around for a long time

    Cons

-Company changed dramatically over the years, but the culture (especially of the long-term/lifer employees) has struggled to keep up with the changes, both within and outside of the company.
-Limited growth opportunities if you are not willing to relocate to Chicago area, and limited job security if you do relocate there.
-HR processes and systems are 15-20 years behind the times. As recently as 2010-2011, annual enrollment was done by having up to 250k employees fax (yes, FAX) their forms to a single fax number that was always busy. As an HR employee, this was frustrating because there was always visionary talk about becoming a leader in HR practices, but actions didn't follow suit.
-Didn't implement bonus/variable comp program for most leaders below Director level until 2010, way way way behind the times.

    Advice to Management

Continue to bring in outside leadership that will question/refute the "standard Walgreens answers" to things.

  9. Pretty good experience.

    Pros

Walgreens has a lot of perks with discounts, profit sharing, insurance benefits, and reward points. Its a great family to work for.

    Cons

Recently the company has been changing hands and there is no consistency. One day we have a CEO next day we don't. One day we are using one policy next day we aren't. The turnover rate is extremely high due to a lot of people not knowing if the next day they will have a job or not. Also they want you to work extremely hard for not so extreme pay, or pay increases. The maximum you can probably get is a 50 cent yearly raise and that's for exceeding all expectations. Also there is not much room for growth, many internal job postings are posted just because. Half the time there is already someone in mind, so they interview you for no reason.

    Advice to Management

Work the average day of one of your direct reports and have a true understanding of what it is that we do before making rules and creating policies.
