Pros
Great pat compared to other assistant managers in retail, excellent benefits and 401k programs
Cons
over grew in mgt and exa positions, and that a fraction of the stores forcasted to be open are actually opening, not very much room for promotion from mgt to exa or exa to store manager
Advice to Senior Management
Show your MGTs more love and recognition. They are the backbone of the company, the foot soliders pushing the walgreens agenda foward. No O.T and great sacrifice with work schedule with no "clear" oportunity for promotions (pay and job title) in the near future.
Pros
Lots of leadership experience received working as part of the management team. Lots of experience with merchandising, multi-tasking, and customer interaction. Plenty of opportunities for a recent college graduate to get leadership experience and advance their career in store management. Lots of different employees come from various backgrounds so you'll have a chance to get to know a more diverse group of people.
Cons
You have to work odd hours, morning shift one day, night shift another day, graveyard shift if you're working at a 24 hour store. Lots of manual labor involved, even for the management team. Pay is not as high compared to larger retail establishments.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work and keep the lines of communication open between the employees and the management team.
Pros
Learn the retail business, exposure to retail KPIs, opportunities to recognize process improvement.
Cons
Politics, high turnover rate, limited growth opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management
Employee morale and management compensation are below industry standards. Those are two items that will continue to harm WAG if it does not get solved.
Pros
profit sharing plan is still about 3 to one for every dollar that is put in.
Cons
Loss of work hours. 40 hour work week is now just above part time for many long term employees while new hire employees can work almost 40 hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Long term employees should be given better treatment. Please stop cutting back our hours while the company brags about sales being up.
