    Engineering Internship

    Engineering Intern (Former Employee)

ProsGive you independence to do your work. Give you responsibility to go out on site with and without another engineer. Challenging work at times, but other engineers are always willing to answer questions and sit down with you.

ConsCan be slow at times (like most internships) but someone can find you something to do.

    Stable. Predictable. Conservative.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWalker is a fiscally and culturally a very conservative firm. Overall, the people are nice to work with and the projects are interesting.

ConsCompensation is average for the industry with little room for advancement in the near-term. The company is very top heavy with senior staff who are set to retire in the next 10 years. This places a burden on the younger staff to purchase stock, maximize profits, and help the elders retire well.

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure out if you're a consulting firm or a engineering/design firm. Internal performance measurements are antiquated for a modern day consulting firm and more suited for an engineering firm.

Great working environment, super friendly group of consultants

ProsI found working at Walker Parking an absolute joy. This is a group of very friendly consultants where there is a lot of trust and independence.

ConsPretty specialized field. It's not the most exciting work I would say, but at the same time, Walker does get some pretty great clients because it offers such niche expertise.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot much actually. Management is very friendly, and because it's such a small firm, communicating with management is not an issue.
