Pros
You have pretty good Job Security. Don't ask too much outside of the normal work schedule unless it is for charity.
Cons
Pay is not competitive with other companies in the field. They continually add job tasks but don't pay us for the extra work load.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more to your associates from top to bottom. They do not make enough as an associate and is not worth it to get promoted because it doesn't pay.
Pros
good pay, and good workers
Cons
not enough hours to live off of if you have kids.
Advice to Senior Management
there is good leadership there.
Pros
Variety of shifts, always interacting with people, day goes by fast, enjoyed seeing the end result of a display when finished and then coming in the next day and everything was sold out. It would tell me the display was a success.
Cons
Sometimes repeating the same things -- take down one day from one spot asnd put back up in a day in the same spot.
Pros
Walmart culture is one of the best reasons to work there. The management respects associates and allows individuals to think outside the box to improve processes, reduce cost, etc...
Cons
Home office is located in northwest Arkansas
Pros
Breadth and depth of work experience will grow you in so many ways, and the variety of opportunities is astounding. The scale and pace is astounding, allowing for you to make an amazing impact across the globe.
Cons
The company tries to do too much with too few hands at work. IT is overly leveraged with external resources and the inability to oversee and keep consistent quality is very frustrating. Been transitioning to new organizational structure for 3 years, and every year, most of the processes change and no one seems to know which way is up.
Advice to Senior Management
Get back to the basics, hire more college students and train into the needed skillsets. Balance the internal vs. external components. Be better at rewarding excellence with pay, rather than locked in grid that does nothing to reward above and beyond effort.
Pros
Benefits, and growth advancement opportunity.
Cons
Open 24 hours 7 days a week.
Pros
Being able to work with diverse personalities. Opportunities to develop as a person due to working with those personalities
Cons
Lack of growth opportunities. Consustency through out management with decision making. Profiling and prohibiting growth based on geographic and demographic.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your associates. Learn from them and keep their interest at heart. Talk, respond, listen and treat them as if you care.
Pros
If you work hard and help out WHENEVER possible, there is usually at least one or two supervisors that will take notice and you will be able to move up. The pay is pretty average for a retail job.
Cons
It's retail, anyone who works in retail knows that working with the public sucks. The hiring process at Walmart is probably the most flawed thing about the company. There is probably not a sane person on earth that thinks Walmart has the best workforce possible.
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job communicating changes and listening to feedback from associates. It's hard to adjust to a sudden change, especially if you find out 2 weeks after the change has been implemented (with no such communication)
Pros
Decent compensation compared to other cashier jobs
Employee stock program
Cons
Miserable place to work
Very small, expendable part of a very large corporation
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your lowest employees as your equals
Pros
Fair wages, hours and very friendly people
Cons
having to wear brown paints and the blue shirt
Advice to Senior Management
work your schedule hours and volunteer for different things have a great attitude
