I have been working at Walmart part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    You get a pay check.

    Cons

Managers play favorites. They also don't pay their employees enough for what they're expected to do. I've been there almost two years and am expected to handle almost everything in the store on a regular basis, only making minimum wage. Good luck trying to go to school while working here. Kept getting scheduled during times I said I'm not available and got told how "out of line" I am for having my availability anything less than full while working in retail, especially at a 24 hour store. "I might understand if you were helping a sick family member or something, but school isn't an excuse." Manager's words, not mine. Pretty much your only chances at getting a promotion are if you're in good with someone or if you get REALLY lucky. They give pay raises when you hit you're one year anniversary, but they're extremely small (as in, consider yourself lucky if you get more than 20 cents).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be attentive to your employees' needs and quit playing favorites.

It's a perfect temporary job - nothing else.

I worked at Walmart part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Flexible hours. The tasks aren't very difficult, as you'd expect.

    Cons

It gets very repetitive the longer you stay working here. It's not worth advancing to Department Manager positions from what I've seen - It's almost impossible to advance from there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep advancement open for those interested and capable.

I worked at Walmart full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling is a huge plus for those who attend school. Not many hours are given even if you are a great worker. Amount of hours and promotions are not based on merit.

    Cons

Getting a promotion is not easy when you're not sucking up to the managers. Hours of hard work and compliance doesn't come close to a cup of coffee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should really dedicate more time and effort to analyzing the work of those in charge. A lot of the time the work isn't being done and nobody seems to care to do it.

    Pros

Some of the employees were great to work with, some of the managers acted like they were children.

    Cons

Was denied training due to my temporary position, subject to the whims of the other employees who would take advantage of my willingness to help out

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

same schedule every day and every week. crew was good.

    Cons

pay was low, was passed up for promotions 3 times, and each time was not passed up by someone hired in house, it was always a new hire who then I had to train them to do there job. High turnover rate, you are expendable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire from with in, dont ask people to work off the clock, and let people do the job they get paid for not the extra projects that you should be hiring a construction team for.
