I worked at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of good co workers and reasonable accommodation to time off requests.

    Cons

The holidays are a complete blackout which means that you can't take any time off work during this time. Management management doesn't understand some aspects of family life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise management that sometimes things happen that are out of employees control and they shouldn't be punished for it, this is for seldom occurrences not for critical offenders.

I worked at Walmart part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked with a really wonderful group of people in the pharmacy. As a college student I was paid very well compared to most jobs that college students might have (waiter etc.) Felt like I had a great deal of responsibility to make sure the customers were well taken care of at the Pharmacy. Wal-Mart gets a lot of flak, but there is a reason why they are so powerful, good ideas from low level employees are heard, and changes made immediately. One instance was an employee offered the idea of removing light bulbs from employee only vending machines, saving Wal-Mart a lot of money nationwide. Changes implemented within the week. Pay increase every year and Wal-Mart discount card was given to all employees.

    Cons

Hard to be promoted from store level to corporate level. As a college student working in the pharmacy I was paid well. However I'm assuming full - time staff working in other departments may not be paid as much.
