Horrible company that treats their employees more as machines than people.

I worked at Walmart part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I cannot think of one positive thing to say about my experience with this company.

    Cons

Oh boy, where to start? Pay is awful. Benefits are terrible. The company is one of the biggest and richest in the entire world and they still start their employees at barely over minimum wage and offer cheap, worthless benefits.

They will not hire full time. Upon making full time status, they manipulated my schedule to 39 hours a week to force me to give up full time status, then blamed me for it.

I was expected to run over half of the departments in the store on a nearly daily basis, on top of cashiering and cart pushing, while paying me less than cashiers and every other Sales Associate. I was expected to run toys, sporting goods and furniture on a daily basis, despite only toys being my department. I was expected to be able to help in EVERY department in the store except apparel and automotive on a less frequent basis, but I ended up running fabrics, on a cash register or pushing carts almost every day and was sent to the freezer and pets department at least once a week. Again, I was the LOWEST PAID sales associate in the store and had the largest workload out of anyone in the ENTIRE STORE.

They run a skeleton crew and the number one customer complaint at my store was that there weren't enough people working.

They rotate management CONSTANTLY. I knew more about running some of the departments than a few of the managers. One manager in particular was best described as incompetent and wrote me up for "productivity," claiming that there were multiple incidents on record, but could not provide proof of those incidents when asked. She then lied and told me that signing the write up was not acknowledging guilt, but I was told that I acknowledged guilt at my termination hearing.

I was fired for not greeting a customer while running a cash register. Again, I was not a cashier.

There is practically no room for growth. It is EXTREMELY difficult to rise to supervisor, let alone management because the workload does nothing to train employees for growth.

No sick time. Part time benefits may as well not exist. Even full time benefits are subpar.

Management lies to the employees. I was told that they weren't allowed to modify the atrocious schedule the computer puts out, despite the fact that the "computer" would consistently schedule people on time off requests made MONTHS in advance and even when the employee is unavailable for work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

See that long list I just wrote? That's not even all of the issues I had with this company, I simply can't remember all of them. No company should ever be this horrible to it's employees.

I have been working at Walmart

    Pros

They paid money that was legal.

    Cons

Treated employees like objects. Sick time treated like a bad thing. If someone is sick, the validity is always questioned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It was a great time during which i grew personally. The office culture was intriguing and the compensation was a 20 word minimum.

    Cons
