    Walmart NOC

NOC Technician (Current Employee) San Bruno, CA

    Prospay, benefits, stock options, 401k

Consfavoritism, cut-throat environment filled with gossip, negativity and a high-school type mentality. No support from mid-level managment. horrible on-boarding and training process. career-pathing only for Supervisor favorites. Manager is out of touch with employees and their contributions. No follow-through. Unfair employee reviews, not based on work ethic but if you are buddy buddy with the Supervisor.

Advice to Senior Managementreplace mid-management with people who will support the entire team. Develop a positive culture for the NOC.

    - Systems still behind the times
    - Risk averse relative to many competitors

Potential to be great, but lands flat in mediocre-land.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) San Bruno, CA

Pros1. In general, people are collaborative
    2. Company stresses work/life balance and strives to be great place for working moms
    3. Moves quickly at great scale, which can be exciting
    4. Offices have windows! (Unlike home office in Bentonville)

Cons1. Mediocre management at top and mid-level. Do not come here if you want to be inspired.
    2. Technologically a disaster, which causes a lot of hiccups at scale and clean-ups
    3. Day to day will involve a lot of manual office work vs. automated systems
    4. No frills attitude extends to company's attitude to talent development

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in systems and technology so more value-added work can be done

High performing teams, low performing culture.

    Project Manager (Former Employee)

ProsWalmart has acquired a great number of talented people, and has a clear focus on where they want the business to go.

ConsWalmart has acquired a great number of talented people, but is hindered by how fast they can go by the legacy overhead of being the largest company in the world. It can be really frustrating for people who like to get stuff done.

    Arkansas won't let eCommerce succeed

    Director (Former Employee)

ProsExpectations are ridiculously low so if you're lazy this is your place

ConsFor the most part you are not surrounded by the best and brightest
Corporate culture of fear and unwillingness to change
    Below market comp
    Inept engineering group
    Archaic systems and data access
    Willfully blind

Advice to Senior ManagementThe Arkansas way won't be successful in eCommerce
Be bold and innovative rather than boldly marketing the mediocre as innovation

    Think Twice

Designer (Former Employee) San Bruno, CA

ProsSolid company if you're looking for job security, will not go away anytime soon. Surface perks but just barely. Decent people. Nice and well thought out work environment.

ConsCome on it's Walmart even if you do tack on the eCommerce. Lot's of work piled on with silly dead-lines. No real clear design direction always trying to catch up with what's out there. Company runs on the backs of contractors. The design group ignores talent and rewards personalities. I've seen some very talented people leave after being passed over for promotions. Pay is also not very competitive.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out of your corner cube and talk to people.
