    Pros

They use the newest and latest technology. There are so many groups in Disney that you can explore. They give you a lot of perks, such as Disneyland passes, good health coverage, education reimbursements, pretax child care and health care expenses deducted from your salary.

    Cons

It is difficult to get a promotion. A lot of lay offs. A lot of groups within the company don't have managers, or they use people who aren't qualify to be managers, because they don't think it's worth the money to hire real managers. Review process is daunting and sometimes employees are not reviewed fairly. Human resource is useless if you want to fight your case.

    Advice to Management

Be ready to fight for your employees and pay attention to what they have accomplished instead of the mistakes that they make. They will work even harder for you if they know you are willing to fight for them when things get tough.

    Pros

It's Disney. The brand and brands within are very motivational and there is a ton of pride working on such beloved titles and characters. You work with some amazingly talented people and great teams are formed with that talent and coming to work with those people is a treat, a challenge and rewarding.

    Cons

Politics. Career climbers and "layoff season". Some people excel at Disney and others suffer from the constant threat of layoffs and turnover from change of direction in business strategies. You work hard and strive to move ahead, but all the sudden your boss is gone and a new face who knows nothing about your abilities and brings in their own trusted hands often pushes people either to try again next year or move on out of frustration

    Advice to Management

Make sure that cast members who survive "layoff season" and re-orgs don't have their careers stunted due to the politics decided above. "Retaining talent" is just a motto and not really promoted across the board. To many talented people walk out the door from frustration

    Pros

"The Happiest place on earth" - not There is a sense of euphoria of supporting a better world.

    Cons

IN this one lesser known division and department, "Management" is not and does not. They are paranoid and deficient in skill. They beat down anyone who does a good job and does nothing to build morale or "mentor" toward development.

    Advice to Management

SMILE! Respect the hard work people do. Mentor! Develop staff and yourself so you don;y have to run scared for your jobs.

    Pros

Ample training budget, company will pay for relocation expenses, and Disney perks are great for a family. There are several segments to the business and it depends on which segment you work in as to how happy you'll be. They're all different and feel like separate companies at times.

    Cons

Pay is lower than working for a start-up. Disney legal is very strict about what you can/can't say about what you've accomplished while working for Disney. I would like to contribute back to the community on open source projects and that is very hard to do.

Some of the best things about working for DIsney are that it is and continues to be a place that is inspired by Kids dreams. The company has existed and thrives off of the belief that the core purpose is to make kids smile. The track record of being a company that has long time employees with careers in the decades is phenomenal.

    Cons

While the Magic was what lured me to DIsney, it has long since gone. Employee morale is at an all time low for my division, vertical movement is pretty much non-existent, and good ideas are snuffed out by the winds of politics. There are way too many Executive positions, and not enough power to make change at the lower level.

    Advice to Management

Eat your own dog food. A quick scan of LinkedIn shows that several current Executives that have been at DIsney for more than a year now are still listing their former employers as current. How can a leader inspire motivation within a company if they don't want to associate with that company publicly themselves?

    Pros

creative environment, company perks, health insurance, some great co-workers

    Cons

Promotions not based on creative merit or work ethic. Childish behavior. Bad leadership and management. Everyone is out for themselves

    Advice to Management

Consider discussing progress with each employer not just once a year. Take a department consensus on who should get promoted & why. Continue to take management classes, and drive results. Take time to develop your employees and reward and compensate them for the hard work that they do.
