I have been working at Walt Disney Company full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

creative environment, company perks, health insurance, some great co-workers

    Cons

Promotions not based on creative merit or work ethic. Childish behavior. Bad leadership and management. Everyone is out for themselves

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider discussing progress with each employer not just once a year. Take a department consensus on who should get promoted & why. Continue to take management classes, and drive results. Take time to develop your employees and reward and compensate them for the hard work that they do.

Inflexible Scheduling and Technical Difficulty of Position is Not Met With Appropriate Pay

I have been working at Walt Disney Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Theme park access
    -Cheap and comprehensive health insurance
    -Steep discounts

    Cons

-It is easier to quit and apply for a new position in the company than it is to transfer
-The pay absolutely does not match the difficulty of work being asked of CMs if you are not in an Office and Technical position. I work in Lodging Operations Support, dealing with highly sensitive personal and corporate financial information on a daily basis. I support front line cast members in the capacity of a coordinator and essentially run the everyday function of the hotel. I am payed about the same rate as a front desk cast member whose job is about 1/4 of the amount of work I do and about 1/4 of the difficulty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership often uses Cast Members as human shields to avoid dealing with angry guests. Many regular CMs go to a leadership position and suddenly, all of their initiative is gone. There is an environment of passing the buck, particularly in lodging. Leadership will get involved in a guest service situation, then not follow through and pass all work related to the situation to the CMs. Delegation is one thing, but this is pure laziness.
