I have been working at Walt Disney Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, great perks, great brand. You get to work with really smart and creative people.

    Cons

Very political environment. Company profits reign above all else. Employees are disposable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more courage and commitment to developing new digital businesses / start-ups internally. Don't always look externally for innovation via acquisition where you pay 10x what could be developed internally if the right organizational and incentive structures were implemented.

I have been working at Walt Disney Company part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The best reason to work for Disney is the benefits you can take advantage of

    Cons

The biggest challenge of working for Disney is how to deal with public.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to hire personnel with more experience at the job they are hired for.

I worked at Walt Disney Company part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Working in attractions was fun and enjoyable. The castmembers became great friends of mine and I loved going to work, most of the time! Disney has pretty nice benefits, including park access for you and your dependents.

    Cons

Costuming never has what you need in your size... Hours can get very low during the slower seasons. Many college-aged kids work here and can be immature. Guests can be rude but you have to grin and bear it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tomorrowland management, keep up the good work! However, scheduling people for "group shifts" does not work well for people with lives outside of work: we need to know more than 4 hours before a shiftwhen we need to be at work!

I worked at Walt Disney Company part-time for more than a year

    Pros

They hire from within, so there's lots of opportunity to change departments and move up in the ranks, they give great access to the parks for you and friends/family. Raises are annual, based on a percentage, as given by union contract.

    Cons

You start as Casual Regular and your hours aren't guaranteed. They give hours based on seniority so if you're new, you may not get many hours. Because most of the cast members are younger, it may seem like a dramafest. You have to join the union. Only give benefits if you're Casual Permanent, which you need to wait for openings for, as well as do an interview.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

See if it's possible to make life easier for the people going to school while working here. People are constantly getting scheduled during school times and needing to trade shifts.

I worked at Walt Disney Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Theme park tickets. Seriously, get your experience and then run for the door.

    Cons

Non-existent work-life balance. Incompetent lower level executives are championed and retained. HR thinks staff turnover is healthy. A unique company history is not enough to make the top 25 list for culture.

I worked at Walt Disney Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I really enjoyed the inclusiveness I felt from day one. I immediately received a benefits package, and they were ready for me to start on my first day... little things like my Email, Corporate Card, etc were laid out and ready to go! Many companies let you start and it takes weeks to feel like they want you there!

    Cons

Within the office I worked in, my manager and I didn't see eye-to-eye. It wasn't a personal thing, and not even a fault on the manager... we just had different management styles.
