    Former Employee - Character Performer
    Former Employee - Character Performer

I worked at Walt Disney Company full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

As a former character performer, the thing I enjoyed most was the opportunity to have a meet and greet with the "Make A Wish" children. In addition to this, I also found the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and work alongside them rewarding and exciting.

    Cons

Disney is known for the magic it brings, however working there it became clear early on Walt's dream was not being well kept up. Rather than enjoying time with each guest, as a character performer, it was more about getting through the line of guests as quick as possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back Walt's dream. Allow the characters more freedom and let them create magic for each guest rather than allotting them only moments for a picture and autograph.

    Pros

    Work with fun people.

    Variety in work hours.

Can have multiple jobs working in the parks so it's never too boring.

Good perks if you love Disney in general.

    Cons

Hard to find transfer opportunities to other departments.

Difficult to advance up the chain.

Some things get neglected by management no matter how many times it's reported.

People with less seniority get more hours than people who have been with the company longer.

I worked at Walt Disney Company

    Pros

The place is full of magic and smiles of the guests, you'll love it if you like making people happy. You get passes and discounts for every park. Lots of hours if you like to work OT.

    Cons

They have very strict rules for employees. Also, the pay is considerably low compare to other big companies, but again, they have to hire lots of people so it's shown that the pay is distributed.

    Pros

There's a reputation for a reason. The training, care, details, time, effort, all of it...absolutely worth every second of my life and I suggest everyone at some point in their lives work for Disney.

    Cons

Hours can be a little extensive at times, but that's to be expected in any hospitality industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Balance the needs of the guest with the needs of the team and business more.
