Associate Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Burbank, CA

I have been working at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment full-time for more than a year

ProsThe benefits are really good: health care, life insurance,

You get to see early screenings of movies.

You have easy access to enter/leave the Warner Brother's lot. It's not uncommon to see movie stars or filming during my lunch break.

The cafeteria is cheap and tasty.

Overall, it's a nice culture.

ConsThe pay is low compared with other companies.

Upward movement seems happen very slowly

I worked at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment full-time for more than 5 years

Pros• Was a great place to work and truly feel proud your contribution to the company.
• Every smart and nice employee at WHV.
• Seeing A-list actors on the main lot.
• Great perks.

Cons• Senior management that made this company successful are resigning by the truck full.
• No room for growth or career development
• Senior management often lead you on to promotions that never come.
• Cannot trust senior management

Advice to Senior ManagementIn a creative industry like Warner Bros. don’t think of your employees as just work horses that you can squeeze profit out off. You are losing your top and/or discouraging your top talent.

Worst experience of my life. Stay away from WB-ADS.

Senior Developer (Current Employee)
Burbank, CA

I have been working at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment as a contractor for less than a year

ProsNo Pros. I was a contractor and even though we put in lot of hours working hard, there was no praise or support given. Worst. Worst client to work for.

ConsWorse client I ever worked with.
Long hours.
No praise or help or support.
Expectation is like crazy. They expect people to work 24 hours.
They don't know what to work on and then expect people to deliver on time. First they should clear what they really want and where they want to go with a project and should have real world expectations

Advice to Senior ManagementThey should try to stay real world. People are not their slaves and don't just work for them. They have personal lives too.

Good place to work if you can stay away from the politics.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment

ProsOverall, a great group of people to work with -- in all departments. Most are very intelligent & hard workers, plus like to have fun.
Good benefits & perks, including gym & bank on studio lot.

ConsLong hours for most people.
Hard toget things done with so much bureaucracy & politics.
Little to no recognition of accomplishment on large projects or important deadline-driven projects.

working at a major movie studio will definitely boost your resume, but...

Financial Analyst (Former Employee)

Proshaving WB on your resume opens door.

Conscould have made more money in banking.

Advice to Senior Managementnot sure if it was really necessary to lay off so many ppl in early 2009. Most of ppl who were laid off were junior levels who probably made a FRACTION of sr. management. WB now has started hiring all over again and already spent so much $ on hiring temps. They spent more money on temps than what they saved by laying off ppl.

They laid off ppl and THEN relized they do need people to run business, so they hired temps. Funny thing is, they pay temps a lot more than their full time employees.

The money used to pay temps doesn't come from SALARY portion of their budget, but from other sections. so they might save money on SALARY for full time employees (since they have less employees), but they spend A LOT MORE on other allocated budget (paying temps).

which means they are NOT SAVING $. They are actually spending more. DUH.

good place to work

Director (Current Employee)

I have been working at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment

Pros#1 brand in the market, there is no other entertainment company that has the market prestige or market power than warner. this is not to be understated - this power enables them access to the best talent and positions them well with major customers. within wb, there are challenges but also a lot of opportunities to succeed. they are very loyal to their people, which means that you essentially get tenure although it is informal. there is also a lot of dead wood and bureaucracy as a result. i would recommend warner to anyone simply based on the brand. overall a good place to work.

Cons#1 brand, but execution struggles. there is an expression in the e

A decent place to work, if you get into the right area

Manager, Finance (Current Employee)
Burbank, CA

I have been working at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment

ProsWork and life balance, though this can vary widely depending on department. Benefits are good, health insurance is cheap, and vision care is excellent. It can be a very fun place to work, as projects come through at a steady pace, keeping one involved in their daily work.

ConsLack of strategic thinking, and a culture of mediocrity. Morale is quite low. It is very very important to be plugged into the right people.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to resource allocation - don't shrink growing business units.
