Mixed Bag Depending on Your Role

I worked at Warner Bros. full-time

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits. Television actors abound and you will certainly see them. A fully equipped gym is on the lot as well as a cafeteria, restaurant, and coffee shop.

    Cons

My experience is within IT and the cons are with regard to IT. Completely dysfunctional; largely due to an executive management team that is one generation (or two) past current technology. Unless you are a VP or higher expect to work long hours with little hope of anyone ever recognizing and rewarding your efforts.

    Cons

Not paid but experience was awesome!

    Advice to Management

    Maybe a stipend.

Long, unpredictable hours, and lots of travel.

    Advice to Management

Keep things professional and leave the personal out of it. Focus more on development.

    Pros

Employee benefits such as movie screenings, friendly co-workers and environment, working on actual movie sets, farmers market on the lot

    Cons

Not a lot of career development tools, no chances to move up or move to a different department if so desired

    Advice to Management

more communication between the entire department as opposed to individual teams of managers and employees to prevent word of mouth information among the department

    Pros

Great Studio Lot environment to work in.

    Cons

No more pensions only 401 K, Lost my job do to greed. Laid off a lot of employees on the middle and bottom end. Very few on the top end.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees who dedicated their careers to the company.

I have been working at Warner Bros. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank was an awesome place to work. A fun, creative environment with a TON of Hollywood history.

    Cons

The down side with anything in the entertainment industry, the jobs are not always the most stable. When a production goes on hiatus you can find yourself without income for an indefinite amount of time.

    Advice to Management

My management was alright. Sometimes I had the sense of too many Chiefs and not enough Indians.

    Pros

Very laid back work environment, excellent culture, challenging IT projects and some of the projects are at the forefront of the entertainment industry

    Cons

Not enough avenues for career advancement within the IT organization

    Advice to Management

Positions/resources eliminated in the recent layoffs did not make a lot of sense. In the future, vet the positions/resources before eliminating

I have been working at Warner Bros. full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great slate of TV and Theatrical product portfolio. Highly motivated workforce.

    Cons

No room for advancement. Senior management is holding to overpaid jobs. Duplicate effort in multiple business units. Need to revisit corporate structure.

    Advice to Management

Restructure not through layoffs but through using available assets and merging business units.

I have been working at Warner Bros. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I love this place! It's a fun environment among highly qualified resources. Yes, you may see well known people, but better than that, your work is interesting and always changing as the latest best practices are implemented. Benefits are very good and the company will assist with relevant education expenses. Internships are available.

    Cons

Many employees are more loyal to the company than it is to them. TCO rules. The recent reorganization, resulting in layoffs of hundreds of employees, may have cut too far into the bone.

    Advice to Management

Balance TCO with valued resources. Do everything you can to reassure retained employees that they will not be the next casualties.
