The work/life balance was great and it was not bureaucratic at all which was refreshing coming from a larger corporate.

Former Employee - Product Development Intern in Burbank, CA

    Pros

In a culture that rewards and celebrates those with high IQs, it's refreshing to work in an environment where the EQ may dominate the IQ, and the creative must blend with business. Execs are a motley bunch, from JD holders to MBA grads.

Without connections or an Ivy League degree, work ethic and endurance are your two strongest cards at this company, and in this business.

    Cons

The intern/assistant/executive hierarchy is lamentable, but it isn't changing anytime soon. Prepare to grind for a few years like in any high-caliber industry (investment banking, consulting).
On any given day, you may ask: "How did this person get a job here? What do they actually do?" Nepotism runs deep in the industry, always has, perhaps always will. Equality in equity and equity in equality have never been the industry's strongest suits.

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

The people are generally intelligent and friendly, and the benefits are good.

    Cons

Processes and communications between Burbank and subsidiaries are often impractical and move glacially slow.
Long-standing feuds between groups are allowed to continue unchecked.
Certain execs hire friends from previous companies, but don't hold them accountable, even when it is clear that they are not performing.
Very little thought is put into improving underlying technology in order to make creating new products faster and less cumbersome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the hand-offs between Burbank and subsidiaries quick and efficient.
Eliminate the childish bickering and in-fighting between groups and/or organizations.
    Reward and recognize high-achievers.
    Hold low-achievers and troublemakers accountable.
Show that you actually care about quality... customers should not be considered product testers!
