Pros
the managers in place in the time of my employment were really great at mentoring employees.
Cons
the change over from wamu to chase was a disaster. I left wamu as it transitioned.
Advice to Senior Management
.advice to management: leave chase while you can. it was never going to be the end all be all
Pros
if you were on a team with a good manager, you were able to promote
Cons
if you were stuck with a bad manager, you pretty much were stuck
Advice to Senior Management
feedback or suggestions boxes that REALLY were anonymous
Pros
Good culture, very nice people.
Cons
Overly process-driven; too many meetings; too many Powerpoint decks. Senior managers utterly lacking in courage to make unpopular decisions or take chances.
Advice to Senior Management
N/A
Pros
opportunity for growth and advancement
Cons
numbers driven and goal oriented
Advice to Senior Management
keep it up... focus on behaviors not numbers
Pros
The WaMu I knew had a long, proud history of serving its communities, customers and clients. While it was in business I was proud to work there.
Cons
WaMu's senior management utterly destroyed the bank. Between 2007 and 2008 the company stock slid from $40 down to 10 cents as it imploded, its assets ultimately sold to JPM at firesale prices by the federal government.
Advice to Senior Management
Too little much too late. They presided over one of the greatest examples of the destruction of shareholder equity in the history of capitalism. On the flip side after this performance it should not be hard for any of them to actually improve as managers.
Pros
Money was good
Is was located on service rd of Expressway which was convenient
Cons
Management was selfish
The assistants worked like dogs with very little praise, loan officers got all of the glory
Advice to Senior Management
Respect a good job when a good job was done, it's nice to be acknowledged when you have done a good job
Pros
Always felt I was needed and appreciated
Cons
Sr Executives allowed it to be shut down/taken over by JP Morgan Chase
Advice to Senior Management
Stop being so greedy
Pros
The base salary was competitive.
Cons
The underwriting process was difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
WAMU is no longer in existence. Merged with Chase Bank. I have no advice to offer, due to that fact.
Pros
The company had a strong brand, strategic vision, decent technology support for employees, good work life balance, smart and fun co-workers and lots of charitable activities.
Cons
The mortgage portfolio left something to be desired. The commute was terrible for most employees. Some might say it was overly political.
Advice to Senior Management
Good luck on everything! It's nice that some of the former executives have worked hard to provide help to displaced employees.
Pros
Retail store and low and mid management corporate employees were very nice, and were eager to do good work
Cons
Desparate need for new and innovative ideas from senior management and significant passive/aggressive behavior demonstrated by management trying to move up the chain of command.
Advice to Senior Management
Live an honest life, both professionally and personally
