I worked at Washington Regional Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere, good benefits, flexible schedules, most people seem happy to be at work

    Cons

Low pay, subject to lay offs, no raise/cost of living increase, understaffed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be present more so that people understand you are here in campus each day like the rest of us and care about us as much as you expect us to care about the hospital

I worked at Washington Regional Medical Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good co workers, decent benefits, competitive salary. The company values and mission were actually clear and administration seemed to strive to make every employee feel important.

    Cons

Lack of direction, lack of management, lack of accountability, minimal training for most employees. Management seemed to lack interest/or took too much interest.

I worked at Washington Regional Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent pay for the area, there are some nice hard working people here, plenty of work load, benefits offered .It's a job.

    Cons

Insurance deductibles are very high, upper management is very shady & dysfunctional, company is prone to large lay offs of long term employees to hire lesser paid ones, employees favored by management are not required to work as hard and those who work hard but are not only undervalued but are often written up for offenses that would not be even be mentioned to favored employees, culture reminds me of a small town high school.Patient information & is often openly discussed within the business office with no regard for HIPPA (and not on a "need to know basis)) & I have even witnessed employees asking co workers to access the charts of others so that it can not be traced back to them. I was uneasy about being both an employee and a patient here. I have worked in several other hospitals in the area that are much more ethical.

    Pros

Generous PDO policy, good rates on insurance, mostly positive atmosphere to work in.

    Cons

Feeling like ancillary staff is unimportant, and only RN's count in the system

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember it takes everyone to make a company succesful not just one type of employee, from the people that clean the floors to cafeteria staff to coders who code the claims to the business office that fight for the money we are entitled to, it takes all of us to be succesful, one with out the other would not work.

    Pros

money is OK if you work overtime. The job seemed OK at first but I could be transferred to 3 different locations in the department in a 12 hr period...NICU, post partum, or NBN. That required new charting on as many as 15 patients!!

    Cons

they will NOT hesitate to report you to the board of nursing for and small mistake and you career is ruined due to a permanent red flag.I dont understand why they dont have some type of warning system instead of immediate termination

I have been working at Washington Regional Medical Center

    Pros

The benefits are great and reasonably priced. They try really hard to monitor how we are perceived by our community and strive to always be better than before, even though we are consistantly rated highly in comparison with other hospitals in the country that are about the same size. They make a real effort to foster great employee moral even in these difficult economic times. Ones of the great things that they've done in recent years was to find other ways to cut costs instead of laying off employees when the economy tanked.

    Cons

There really aren't many cons of any consequence. The merit increases in pay are rather low but when you consider that we are a "not for profit" they are reasonable and they are enough to let employees know that they are important to the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should always try to participate more in the daily running of a business because that is necessary to be able to make valid decisions that affect how things are done.
