I have been working at Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Yu Ying is entering it's seventh year and has grown. The employees are friendly and diverse and the students are a joy to work with.

    Cons

There are limited lunch options, but the neighborhood has been growing and more are popping up daily.

    Advice to Management

    Clearer opportunities for growth.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Teachers are young and energetic, hard-working and willing to share. Some parents are very supportive. Plenty of funds.

    Cons

Poor management. Chinese team leader is mean. Principal only listens to her biased opinion.

    Advice to Management

Better learn to be a leader before leading people.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School full-time

    Pros

It is a IB school. Always trying new teaching strategies. Considerable PD time for teachers to discuss curriculum and school environment.

    Cons

Not very professional. Heavy workload. Teacher's personal time is not valued. Teachers try to work on weekends to show how hard they work.

    Advice to Management

    Value teacher's voice and time

    Pros

Great kids. Open to new ideas and different teaching approaches. Used to be more like a family.

    Cons

Overworked, little acknowledgement for job well done

    Advice to Management

Find ways to appreciate staff and give time to get things done. Stop inputting new requirements without enough time to implement or understand the expected outcome
