    Pros

As a wellness nurse at The Fountains of Crystal Lake Illinois I have been challenged and rewarded as an experienced nurse. The nursing department is constantly evolving to serve the residents of our community to enjoy their golden years. We have resources, new equipment, and are reinforced with a fantastic management team from our Director of Nursing (Tracy C.), Human Resources Director (Patty M.), and Assisted Living Director (Amy D). Nurses are encouraged to teach and conduct classes for the residents through Watermark University which allows us to interact and assist the residents to thrive in their retirement years. As nurses we are respected, able to build genuine relationships with our residents, and encouraged to continuously become better in our profession. Your opinion as a nurse is respected and valued by the solid support of the Directors which always have an open door policy and understand the pressures nursing as a profession we often experience. Its a family atmosphere whether an employee or a resident.

    Cons

The fast paced environment demands nurses be of good health, sound mind, and able to make the right clinical decisions while juggling multiple serious to minor situations at the same time for 30 to 50 residents per nurse. This disqualifies half of nurses that could be an attribute to our team. As an example, we have Fitbit challenges and all nurses average 5 miles or more per shift per day. My biggest con is we are not computerized or as nurses we know it as PCC. We still run paper and the writing is time consuming and can be difficult to learn but can be done. If I can do it then any motivated nurse with a will to learn can become proficient with all manual non computerized system.

    Advice to Management

This is directed toward corporate. We need a larger nursing budget which will enable us to provide the highest nursing care in the Assisted Living Culture Nationwide and set the bar even higher than we already have and perform our nursing duties daily. Reimbursement for continuing education as nursing professionals will enable us to receive greater knowledge which will as well raise the quality of care and education we can pass to our residents and our Watermark Community. Free (within reason, example 6, not one upon hire) nursing uniform shirts per year. We are required to wear and adhere to a strict professional dress code and the cna's and nurses are hesitant to pay for shirts which become worn and discolored with time and bodily fluids we come in contact with on a daily basis. Free shirts within reason will continue to give that sparkling image we strive for without requiring us to agree that our shirt uniforms be deducted from our paychecks and choose between a pizza for our families on a Friday evening or a work shirt.

    Pros

The staff and residents were great. There was a tremendous amount of caring for the residents of this assisted living facility.

    Cons

Some of the residents really need more care than is offered at an assisted living facility. It caused frustration for staff and homeowners.

    Advice to Management

Support the staff with more training.

    Advice to Management

Managers should not be in position when that hate women and minorities If you spkoe your mind you were demoted or fired not a good work enviroment Also using family menbers and friends for contract work shows lack of integrity
