I worked at Wausau Financial Systems full-time

    Pros

Associates are hard working and care about their clients. In recent years, management has been more focused on their client base to reverse strained customer relationships

    Cons

The company's management does not lend to a stable or enjoyable work environment as the associate turn over reflects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should focus on nurturing and retaining talented associates.

I have been working at Wausau Financial Systems full-time

    Pros

Wausau Financial has good people and good software products. Because of this, customers tolerate their weaknesses related to software release and implementation. Management has the tactical elements down so the company is stable and solid financially.

    Cons

Wausau Financial lacks a clear product strategy and creates a good deal of its own issues because they are unsure how their products should interact or align. There is also no clear corporate strategy which leaves individual managers trying to define it for their groups. Overall salary strategy seems to be to underpay in Central Wisconsin in order to afford the new hires located around the country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all employees equally, increae your pay to be competetive everywhere. Do not treat employees in Central Wisconsin as captives. Define your overall strategy and communicate it to your employees and your customers. Set a software strategy and stick to it. Simple is better.

I have been working at Wausau Financial Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Comfortable environment, dress, hours and the people, nearly all of them, are great to work with, for and lead. Strong hold in a tough market with incredible revenue and strategic potential.

    Cons

Having a really hard time capitalizing on any of the revenue or people potential. Deals are missed or completely ruined by poor quality due to understaffed delivery and solution groups.

The constant failure to recognize and grow the potential future leadership of this company is noticed by nearly every employee. There is no career growth for anyone that doesn't live in Mosinee, which is too bad because there are some real leaders that reside outside of it.

The constant software and delivery quality issues make it really tough for anyone to feel successful or good about what they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quickly realize that there are lots of talented people who really do wish to remain with the company for a very long time, but will be given no option but to look elsewhere due to a truly futureless career.

Staffing properly to meet quality needs should be addressed. For all of those who have a 'face' in the customer world...getting egg on it gets old.

Compensation and benefits are decent, but continuing to not give merit raises will take its toll.

I have been working at Wausau Financial Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Casual dress, casual hours, great office location, ample space, good people, work from home

    Cons

Recent management shifts have left moral plummeting, causing resignations by talented employees. Lack of middle management and accountability leave lower employees to fall out of line. Pay freezes and no career growth limit longevity. Acquisitions are not nurtured and left to wither. Bending over backwards to keep key customers while lacking focus to gain new. Project management is constricted by processes that don't work. As the HQ is in a small town they act 'big fish, little pond'; that culture does not translate to satellite locations, nor your customers. Not a bad place to work, but if you want to grow your career, plan to move to the central office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lack of communication implies you are hiding something. Stringing along employees with empty promises and rose glasses won't last forever.

I worked at Wausau Financial Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

WFS supports its employees very well. Management does their best to ensure that employees have visibility to the direction and focus of the company. Employees are extremely dedicated and focused. They all are very helpful of each other and have a 'We are in it together' mentality. Customer focus is key and all management and employees share in this. WFS is a fast paced high intensity company which is a lot of fun to work with. It does require dedication and passion.

    Cons

WFS is a small company who works with very large customers. This causes some growing pains which cause confusion for employees. The size of WFS allows for a lot of flexibility and movement making them appear to withhold information from employees due to decisions in flight. Management works hard to keep as much information available as possible and is always operating with focus of growing the company and supporting its employees. Recent upper management changes have helped WFS significantly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put additional focus in growing associates. There are tons of great people working at all levels within the company with a lot of growth potential.

I have been working at Wausau Financial Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Associates are hard working and dedicated. They really care about the end result and want to make the customer happy. Executive management has made many positive changes over the last two years that have positioned Wausau Financial Systems to grow and thrive.

    Cons

Main office in Mosinee is not what you would expect for a technology forward company...looks more like it is a part of a factory. Building has year-round heating/cooling issues, etc.
