There is a new lesson to be learned everyday within Wawa.

Shift Manager (Current Employee)
Old Bridge, NJ

I have been working at Wawa part-time for more than 3 years

ProsExcellent Benefits
Opportunities for growth in any direction
Weekly pay
Stock/401k Programs

ConsAt a store-level it may appear that you practactly live at the place. Other than that, there are no cons worth even thinking about. As long as your M-Team can interact correctly with the associates then you will have a grand ol' time. They must do some better screening in who they employ or advance up the ranks.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure to check on your entire management team on a store-level basis. Not just through their numbers or "performance," talk to the little people and you will get the real scoop on who is doing Wawa injustice by not truely living up the core values.

Not for you if family time is important.

Fresh Food Manager (Current Employee)
Bethlehem, PA

I have been working at Wawa full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe pay is good for management, though not as good as it was a couple years ago. The benefits are amazing. Health, life insurance as well as great 401k matching and profit sharing.

ConsThere is no work/life balance. General Managers and Upper Management expect you to put your job before your personal responsibilities. It is very easy for General Managers to get away with treating their employees poorly.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop putting so much faith in the words of the store managers. Start listening to lower management. Some General Managers do not possess the maturity and integrity required to be a boss.

Corporate Offices Employee

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Wawa, PA

I have been working at Wawa full-time for more than a year

ProsFree Wawa drinks while working. Ability for certain roles to work from home frequently. Great employee appreciation events. Ok pay, depending on the role. Good benefits and 401k match.

ConsThe people working in the corporate offices are a bit snobby. They make new comers feel very unwelcome and are all very attached to the "wawa way" (which really is just having to sit through 10 meetings about the same topic before anything changes). I've working at multiple big name firms and this is by far the most inefficient company yet. Not much possibility for promotions since they always seem to find someone "more qualified" that is an external candidate.

Advice to Senior ManagementSupport your employees more. Give them the chance to change things without having to run EVERYTHING they do by management.

And change the employee engagment survey.... it's really a huge joke and doesn't represent anything accurately.

Cross-training and safety are this companies top priority, entry level employees do everything there.

Customer Service Associate (Current Employee)
Philadelphia, PA

I have been working at Wawa part-time

ProsAbove average entry level hourly pay, mostly friendly work atmosphere,

Consentry level employees are expected to do a lot more than what would be considered normal at any other retail job that is similar in order to counter-balance the better than average wage.

Advice to Senior Managementtrain employees to be proficient in certain areas and average in others so everyone can cover each other if need be, but please; stop the crazy cross-training one job is hard enough.

I have been working at Wawa full-time for more than a year

ProsThe biggest asset Wawa has is the people. Hands down, it is the people I work with everyday that keep me coming into work. Wawa's distinctive culture is built on a foundation of valuing the people. We work together, as an organization, to achieve goals to better the business and we value what each person brings to the table. In addition, there are plenty of career advancement opportunities.

ConsEnvironment can be stressful wearing many hats throughout the day.
