I worked at Wawa part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working at Wawa can be a lot of fun. You usually make friends with almost all of your coworkers and it can be really fun jamming out to music and making hoagies/specialty drinks with your buds. Wawa also has an awesome rewards system. So, if you are an awesome employee you'll get points, and you can use those points to buy merch on the Wawa website.

    Cons

You get paid very little to work your butt off. You are on your feet for 8+ hours a day. Part time is just code word for "you're going to be working 38 hours a week, and not receiving any of the benefits that our actual full-time employees receive." Also a lot of the time, you are going to have to stay past the end of your shift. Wawa is a very busy place, and if your coworkers are stuck, you're going to have to suck it up and stay and extra hour or two.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I never had a problem with management. They were always laid back and awesome.

    I worked at Wawa full-time

    Pros

good salary, great benefits, good people to work with

    Cons

Little training, too many managers are allowed to screw over their minions. You talk of values, make sure your middle management knows how to live these values.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together, good people are not going to stand by waiting for you to get your act together. "Values" are more than medallions on the wall, they should be lived not ignored.

    Very stressful
Constantly moving around for 9+ hours straight
    Not appreciated
    Having to work on holidays
If you're part time you work full time hours with no benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Wawa

    Pros

Healthy salary, bonus potential is poor in low volume and great in high volume, all paid monthly. Salary and Bonus is equivalent to most big box salary. Benefits are decent. Good programs for employees, good community outreach, senior leadership knows you personally and hear what you have to say, trying to make positive changes.

    Cons

If you like taking your time to develop and mentor others, this is not for you. Poor work/life balance as it is a very physical job with little to no time to plan/organize for the future, more of a 'go, now, go' type of management style but not in a healthy way. I emphasize physical as you will be on your feet 9+ hours every day and there's a program designed to determine the amount of time you have (regardless of need) for each task i.e. 8 minutes for this, 18 for this, 26 for that, etc. Your work cannot be completed properly if you find yourself wanting to spend more time on a specific metric or in a staffing shortage as you will need to drain time from one area to focus on your other objectives, or work more hours than you are scheduled, then you have to explain to your boss daily why you were over labor target. See the spiral? Recent changes have created the chaotic environment and lack of balance that used to be there. 15 years of solid performance is negated by 1 year of poor performance and a trip to the back burner and lower volume.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no council or program that can replace the time the management teams no longer have to effectively develop from within, which is why we are in this situation. You broke something and are avoiding the fix like the plague when the solution is adding the five letter hot topic. You control the turnequet and you have heard us loud and clear. It's time to step up and be servant leaders. It's time to stop the bleeding.
