I worked at Wawa part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun job. Liked the people I worked with and the store manager was cool.

    Cons

Hours were part time only. Pay not so great .

I have been working at Wawa part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You are offered a decent part time wage compared to other convenience stores, but don't expect to get paid much more until you are a few steps higher up the management ladder. The company makes it clear and easy what you need to do and where you need to go in order to get promotions, but expect a lot out of their managers. They offer good benefits for those who work a decent amount of hours as well.

    Cons

Higher up management implements a lot of rules and regulations with compete disregard for employee opinion. You can walk out of work one day with one thing being a certain way, and come back in the next with it being totally different. Emails are sent on how the store should be arranged and new policies that are being implemented whether you like it or not. Managers come and go, as is required by corporate policies, and you will see many bad managers in training and a few good ones come through. Every manager has the own rules on how things should be done, and no one is really sure on what the actual way to do certain things is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Include your employees in at least some decision making.

I worked at Wawa full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

You pretty much get for what you are willing to put in. If you are reliable and follow corporate policies and procedures . A current career development plan is mandatory of all levels of management and is reviewed by your supervisor frequently. Wawa offers computer or on site courses as well as tuition reimbursement to help you reach your goals. Good pay , bonuses, ESOP and more benefits.

    Cons

High volume of customers. Long periods of standing. Heavy workload, multi-tasking is required. Must be available at all times especially during inclement weather.

Lack of managerial support, gossip and favoritism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I often thought while employed there that senior management should put someone "undercover" to work in the store and report back to them so they could truly see what working in a Wawa was really like.

I worked at Wawa full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great pay, benefits and training programs. This job will make you a better employee, but make it clear you will work its a race from the second you clock in till your done work. Wawa reaching out to assist every associate, if you depressed or can pay your bills to the point where they are shutting off your electric the will help.

    Cons

Inconstant management practices across the board. After you get to the lvl of general manager and above things get very political. You will work very hard, and they will make you a better leader. The reviews i read here are on people but fail to visit the lvl of stress and pressure Wawa puts on its Work force.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Prepare you self for much change, while wawa is very good at rolling out initiatives. They do it very often, how you work today may completely change next week. Network as much as possible with your peers seek advice and feedback. You must be completly transparent and try not worry about how thing make you look when you are called out for a mistake Instead focus on taking that feedback learn and move on.

I have been working at Wawa full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Worked for a while under several GMs and always loved it. Still really good friends with some of the Managers.

    Cons

Once you run into a Bad Manager, good luck, GM wrote me up for everything and instead of giving me a chance at another store, kicked me out of program. Also, no time for anything else in your life, I worked upwards of 55 hours a week and would get yelled out for stay too late, but yelled at if I leave with order still on floor (even when it just got there at midnight)

    I worked at Wawa

    Pros

The people are great. The regulars make you feel connected to the community.

    Cons

Pay could be higher for managers. Everyday there is a list of things that must get done, and you spend most of the day running around.
