I have been working at Wayne-Dalton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a great company. Family atmosphere. Everyone looks out for one another. Very easy to deal with as far as getting time off. 401K, good benefits etc.

    Cons

It would be noce if you could get over 40 hours. Hourly pay is competitve but from a driver's standpoint, you get 15 less hours a week than any of the other local LTL trucking companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More recognition (monetarily) for outstanding employees rather than blanket pay advancement.

    I have been working at Wayne-Dalton full-time

    Pros

decent benefits some co workers make the job worth it decent money

    Cons

horrible management they hire people off the street that have no clue about what you do in your area. They expect you to put out maximum amount of parts with faulty equipment that keeps breaking down but they wont pay the money to fix it right. During the slow season as soon as you get done you get sent home witch leaves you worrying about bills but during the busy season they expect you to work 12 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week. hardly any pay raises unless your a hard worker and your team leader likes you and will tell them that you deserve a raise so you don't quit I have watched so many people come and go do to poor pay or bad desions on managements part that some of us think we should be a revolving door company because of how many people come and go

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get out off the office and actually spend some time on the floor doing the job

    I worked at Wayne-Dalton

    Pros

Autonomy, low pressure, good products, great customer base, innovative ideas, terrific employee base. Overall Wayne Dalton was a great place to work.

    Cons

Poor executive management decisions and responsiveness led to mass layoffs throughout the company. Too many experienced quality people were eliminated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Resign. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Congratulations on downsizing a once strong and vibrant company. A tragedy

    Pros

company is in solid financial standing

    Cons

employees are viewed as capital, not necessarily as people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

upgrade your management philosophies & styles from the 1960's to the 21st century. It is impossible to over-communicate, but very easy to alienate employees with lack of communications.

    I worked at Wayne-Dalton

    Pros

Exciting projects, good technology, best test equipment and tools. No expense spared on equipment or supplies needed for getting a job done right.

    Cons

Priorities for projects constantly juggled, projects would all go from back burner to front burner at the same time, making resource allocation almost impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement and stay with a phase-gate system, give each step time to complete, don't overpromiss on projects until enough testing can be complete. In other words, don't let the customers be the beta sites.

    Pros

    Unique products when they work.

    Cons

They do not thouroughly test products before release. They have several warranty issues with sub par product that they have refused to take care of. Treatment of employees is horrible, especially when employer or employee terminates relationship. Several employees have been screwed out of compensation that is owed to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start treating employees as people.
