    Pros

Good benefits, decent paid time off, free tuition for employees, discounted tuition for their families.

    Cons

Administrative staff has been cut drastically over the last 6 years. Individuals are expected to perform the work of two people for the same amount of money. Yet faculty continues to grow.

    Advice to Management

Either pay your administrative staff more or look into bringing back more office workers. As the faculty continues to grow, it is unrealistic to expect employees to take on more and more work without additional compensation or help.

I have been working at Wayne State full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wayne State is a great place to work if you're motivated to be innovative and build networks quickly. The benefits are great, some of the best in the area including 403b, wellness warriors, vacation, insurance, and best of all winter break! Colleagues are willing to share information and help you with challenges. It's a very diverse environment, people are not afraid to talk about difficult subjects.

    Cons

There are not clear career paths so you have to create your own direction. Faculty treat staff horribly, like we are the hired help. Deans can range from really cool to evil narcissistic overlords, they change about every 4 years so it's a gamble.

    Advice to Management

The Provost and President always compliment faculty in their speeches but forget the staff, it's like they are the redheaded step children. It would be nice to have some sort of recognition program for outstanding staff achievements.
