Former Employee – worked at Wayne State full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The benefits are excellent, and working on a university campus is especially fun.
Cons – There is no vision. The politics between divisions and colleges is insane. Too many people are too concerned about getting their piece of the pie and not attempting to make everything work together. It is, in the end, a very toxic environment with management that has no clue how to handle its employees.
Advice to Senior Management – It's time to value your employees.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Advice to Senior Management – stop playing favorites, be nice and cordial - even if you're having a bad day, stop getting kids "wayned"

Former Employee – worked at Wayne State full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Great benefits. Reasonably good salary.
Cons – Understaffed due to economy in Michigan.
Advice to Senior Management – Be willing to take on departmental problems. Good people leave out of burnout. Bad people stay as they know no one will hold them accountable.

Current Employee – been working at Wayne State as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – Flexibility in the work day environment. Good entry level job to gain experience in a non profit environment. Academic environment is stimulating. There is a wonderful cultural mix of students and employees from all over the world to interact with.
Cons – A few long term union employees with bad attitudes can make work processes difficult. Poor, offensive, and insulting , behavior is ignored by management. Unnecessary limits and controls implemented by some colleges delay work processes, and create an environment of distrust.
Advice to Senior Management – HR needs to seriously evaluate the work environment including decision makers.
