I have been working at Weatherford full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Unlike a lot of large companies, this one allows 100 percent telecommute in IT assuming you have the right skills. Pay is competitive, stress is low, and resources abundant. The culture, 401K, holidays, and health benefits are great, among the best I've encountered in 20 years. I've seen regular pay raises over the 4 years I've worked there. It would take a lot for me to give up this job for another.

    Cons

Like many large companies, team silos can be a problem--you have to work sometimes at getting the responses needed to get your projects up and running. Starting vacation is only 2 weeks but you can take unpaid time off if needed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should continue to work at fostering cross-team knowledge transfer mechanisms.

I worked at Weatherford full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Weatherford had good benefits and salary, the international aspect made the work interesting and rewarding. When in a position to make a positive impact on company results left you feeling really good about the work.

    Cons

No reasonable work - life balance. When in a position to make a positive impact on company results and not being permitted to do so, left you feeling really bad about your efforts and the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees who can make a difference are not always at the top. Pay attention to how top management really runs things. Yelling and screaming do not help.

    Cons

I worked at Weatherford full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Company offers good pay and decent benefits. You get a paycheck every two weeks. Those are pretty much the only positives.

    Cons

People are openly miserable at every level (directors, managers, seniors, staff) and it is a known fact that your peers and bosses are actively looking for employment elsewhere. The recurring joke was that no one would be left next year due to voluntary turnover. When they hire someone, they promise certain things but they never follow through, they are conveniently forgotten, or swept under the rug due to "changes in the organization." HR is completely worthless and non-existent. There are other O&G companies that are more established, have better pay/benefits, and treat their employees like human beings - do not come here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes - people are not happy.

I worked at Weatherford as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Networking, good team environment. Perks of large company

    Cons

Fighting traffic. Company did not pay their taxes and got in trouble with the IRS. Therefore, there has been huge cut back and contractors is the first to go. Bad on me for not doing my research. I was promise a direct hire with the company plus a year contract. All of a sudden (3 month into it) unexpected from left field, I was let go. At least they gave me a week to look for work, lol.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not lead your employee on, telling them you do not have to perform, it is a year contract. We will let you know when we want you to perform, just take the training slow. All of a sudden you get rid of the person. Not very professional at all.
