I worked at Weatherford Laboratories full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Again, A good place to get your foot in the door for a career in the oilfield.
I would consider returning to work there if i had to only because i have history and experience there.

    Cons

This post covers rock shop and field employees.
    Compensation is not competitive..
    limited respect for field personnel
Some company vehicles are not dependable for long distance. for example one vehicle had more than 300,000 miles and broke down multiple times. The safe transportation of people and the core(cargo) was at jeopardy many times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

respect is very important for employee moral!!!!!

I have been working at Weatherford Laboratories

    Pros

I do like working for the company - the people are great. The familiy feeling you get is hard to beat. We do work hard. When we get time - we play hard too.

    Cons

When you get hired on - ESPECIALLY SALARIED POSITIONS - You are working 24-7. Your phone becomes a leash and you don't have a life away from the job. Asking for time off is - well - almost impossible. You get two weeks a year - why can't you use it? Asking for it is like sitting on pins and needles. Even when you get it - they try to make you stay and work instead. Management otherwise is pretty decent. Not sure the money is competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

These people (most of them) that work for you are pretty die-hard.You already have our loyalty. It would be nice to get some more recognition for what we do and compensated appropriately (monetarily and vacation).

I have been working at Weatherford Laboratories full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I would say stability, job security, pension, some overtime and benefits

    Cons

No career development, seen people doing the same job for years, if any vacancy comes up no chance to fill it internally
    Basic Pay
    No advancement,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think over all lots of management staff comparing to the number of employee, secondly they should give more chance to internal employee the opportunities to advance and develop in their career

    I worked at Weatherford Laboratories

    Pros

Parking spot located in the building

    Cons

Great if you're looking to shorten your life span from mercury exposure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace current management with people who have business background, not random people who have worked there for a long time

I worked at Weatherford Laboratories full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lack of any competence among managers means you can basically do what you want.

You can wear jeans to work.

    Cons

Almost every single thing imaginable. Shoddy equipment, bad reputation, no training, no value placed on safety, below standard pay, horrible working conditions, no support from office, almost no actual expertise among 'experts' in the company. Very few individuals are the exception to this norm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a management training class, or read a book, or look on wikipedia what a manager is supposed to do. I'm sure youtube has some nice instructional videos on how to be an effective manager.
