    Pros

The company stands up for its employees and the HR have some good quality standards.
There is a plan for every engineer and he/she is supported towards progression

    Cons

    - Ineffective sales in the company makes the job hard and not efficient results to the clients sometimes
    - Operators progresstion is slow

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manuals are good but even better manuals are needed to Engs and techs
Engs need a course to set standards and instructions for communicating with rig personals and clients to represent the best of the company

    Pros

You can bounce around within the company and learn many sides of the oilfield industry. It is easy to excel in the company if you take advantage of all the training programs that we now offer. The new Graduate program we have is one of the best things we have started.

    Cons

Stock Price. We are a bit too diverse. Salaries are way below average compared to competitors. Bonus program is lacking or nonexistent. Communication is a problem due to so many PL's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

During the slow times we are undoubtedly about to face, instead of layoffs, send personnel through our training programs. Grow the company for the inside. This low oil price will not be here forever.

    I worked at Weatherford

    Pros

Weatherford is pretty good about looking out for their people. The benefits are good and management is usually available if you need to speak with them.

    Cons

grueling schedule. Some of their programs and reporting seem overly complicated. They tend to sugar-coat the job when you sign on by emphasizing pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a more in-depth training program for new hires.

I have been working at Weatherford full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Long breaks off work during rig moves, office personal are easy to work with, you get to work out in the field, and you work with multiple lead hands who all expertise in something different giving you a wide range of training.

    Cons

If you don't have a set schedule, it's impossible to know when you will have days off. The job makes it tough to plan anything outside of the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to make a universal spreadsheet that everyone uses, so if you have to fill in for another lead hand you don't have to learn a whole new spreadsheet.

I worked at Weatherford full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Weatherford had good benefits and salary, the international aspect made the work interesting and rewarding. When in a position to make a positive impact on company results left you feeling really good about the work.

    Cons

No reasonable work - life balance. When in a position to make a positive impact on company results and not being permitted to do so, left you feeling really bad about your efforts and the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees who can make a difference are not always at the top. Pay attention to how top management really runs things. Yelling and screaming do not help.

I have been working at Weatherford full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits package, although starting to trend down in terms of what is offered for out of pockets.

    Cons

    No advancement.
    Salary cuts.
Inconsistent management practices. No centralized "Weatherford" way.
    Silos.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the impact when cutting take home pay. While it looks good on the bottom line, it is financially very hard to stay with a company and want to be engaged to work every day.

I have been working at Weatherford full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Unlike a lot of large companies, this one allows 100 percent telecommute in IT assuming you have the right skills. Pay is competitive, stress is low, and resources abundant. The culture, 401K, holidays, and health benefits are great, among the best I've encountered in 20 years. I've seen regular pay raises over the 4 years I've worked there. It would take a lot for me to give up this job for another.

    Cons

Like many large companies, team silos can be a problem--you have to work sometimes at getting the responses needed to get your projects up and running. Starting vacation is only 2 weeks but you can take unpaid time off if needed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should continue to work at fostering cross-team knowledge transfer mechanisms.
