I worked at Weatherford full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Typical schedule, if you are lucky to get on one right away is usually 4 weeks on and 2 off.

    Cons

High Turnover Rate. The SLS operations management team is too laid back and has no managment experience. They were grandfathered in after being "shop" hands, fixing and calibrating the equipment we use. They need to take some management classes and appreciate their job, before they can appreciate what we do in the field. A lot of money is spent on new hires due to turnover rate, if middle management was smart they may be able to save Weatherford money by keeping the already trained professionals from quitting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SLS Operations management needs to be more professional, (not just going through the motions), and work more with the business sales manager to discuss better opportunities in relation to number, value of employees, negotiation contracts, and future growth for the service we provide. They need to be PROACTIVE rather than REACTIVE to situations that may arise.

I worked at Weatherford as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Always room to advance and grow. Team building! Nice offices with catering on the ground floor. Convenient locations around the Houston area. Car pooling.

    Cons

Communications or a lack of disciple within sales team seems to cause support teams undue burden. There may be a lack of understanding between how the sales team interactions with majors in the field and how those interactions effect relations with those same majors in the corporate offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A continued effort to standardize the contract process with an emphasis on the sales teams engaging the majors field and corporate entities to understand the cost of off contract sales and the ripple effect on cash flow.

    Pros

They have a good pay scale, good opportunity for advancement. Good people to work for and with in a team.

    Cons

The only problem I had with the company was that the job was located in Williston, North Dakota. If you have ever been there then you know why.

I have been working at Weatherford full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, Decent pay, Good intentions trying to move towards the "ONE WEATHERFORD" mindest, Lots of over time opportunities, paid holidays.

    Cons

Chaos. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, no one wants to take responsibility and everyone tries to put off their job duty's on other people. System change was very poorly planned and only focused on corporate visibility, not daily ops.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on what each product line does and what their needs are. Plan things out a little better and communicate better.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits; good teamwork environment.; safety is a priority of the company which is great!

    Cons

Slow pay to suppliers, interrupting business. Political strife gets in the way of making decisions and moving the business forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The board needs to look at the manufacturing leadership structure and consider restructuring with leadership from people outside of the oil and gas industry such as Automotive, high speed manufacturing, etc.
