    Pros

Get some exposure to aerospace industry. Stable job

    Cons

Engineering is formality. Need a change in culture. Too many relatives in the companies. Program Management positions (several) are with people who have no engineering background. The career path is if you are a Project Administrator and have a BA in horticulture , you can still be an engineering program manager. Just saying.

    Advice to Management

Value people with knowledge and willingness to learn. Ensure you engineer your product and invest money in research and development for new products. Make sure you have experienced and knowledgable people in leadership positions. Try and reduce nepotism !

    Pros

Not many. ....you get your own desk. ....sometimes. Some people do have to share a desk with second shift though, so be sure to clear out before they sit on you.

    Cons

    Everything else. Literally, ......EVERYTHING ELSE.

    Advice to Management

Burn the place to the ground and start over. Preferably leaving the majority of management inside. Everyone runs around cracking whips to get stuff done, it doesn't get done, they crack whips harder. Try helping once in a while, or contributing in a positive way. Also, understand that giving a project a deadline, .....then adding a bunch of stuff to the project REQUIRES the changing of the original deadline!!! You can't give someone until Friday, then quadruple the work load and expect the same time frame. We live in a world with rules; bending space-time wasn't in the job description.

  3. How does this place continue to exist? A time warp facility.

    Pros

Very busy, but only because Boeing and Airbus have sold lots of planes, and there are few suppliers of aircraft seats. The volume products are legacy models created long before Zodiac takeover and most of the current management was arround.

    Cons

Quality of engineering produced is a low priority. Many of the high skilled Engineers and Technicians are driven out or have left. Heavy reliance on H1B foreign tech workers. Worker units are thrown out daily without warning. Factory is archaic, nearly immpossible to believe your not back in 1960's. Did I mention attrition is astronomical, about 50 people come and go a WEEK in a facility of roughly 2000. Numerous direct workers seem to be driven to work overtime to get things done, but to not record time.

    Advice to Management

Why bother, they don't want to hear it.

    Pros

Great place for dead wood to go and do nothing but run off skilled labor. Will hire the most useless emloyees and promote them to management. Have great oppertunities for training just dont offer suggestions for improvement will result in TERMINATION on the spot with no HR intervention. Useless and inept can thrive with good ole boy mentality. You can do nothing but stab coworkers in the back full time and be a sucess. (possible fast track to management)

    Cons

They termeinate the skilled. They get rid of anybody that tries to improve or fix broken processes. Management has the fire first and ask questions later mentality. They lie about salaries and benefits to lure you into the one horse town and once you get there unvail the real reality, get in writing any promises made about salary and or benifits for the court case latter. They will terminate groups at a time to cover up their inabilities to manage.

    Pros

It's evident that the company is going through a cultural change by the push to remove tired policies and priciples that worked in the 80"s but not today. A real employee recognition program, thank you! real accountibility throughout, wliminating the good Ole boy approach and using metrics to focus on driving improvments

    Cons

Still some holdouts operating in a silo'd mentality. Needs to invest in systems, instead of struggling with tired old legacy systems. Some organizations have not changed at all..

    Advice to Management

I have worked at this company for over 12 years and this is the best we have ever performed and i actually feel valued now. Keep up the changes, they cannot come quick enough.

    Pros

Plenty of work for a contractor. Decent pay for a contractor. The electrical group can work a lot of overtime.

    Cons

You are never sure when the last day is, they hire a lot of contractors, try them out and then lay off the ones they don't like. They routinely try to puch contractors full time. Production quality is very poor. CAD modeling standards are poor or don't exisit. Their idea of a quality check is print a copy of the part drawing and overlay the manufactured part to see how closely it matches the drawing under it.

    Advice to Management

Quality had got to be improved, engineering standards need the be actual standards. Every group needs to work to the same standard, not their own.

    Pros

Acquire knowledge, gain experience, learn from people with very different background, the workforce is pretty friendly and ready to help

    Cons

Low pay, no respect, management by threat, good employees get overloaded, employees are not supported when they run into issues. New management (2011) is exclusively focused on satisfying the shareholders at the expense of employees

    Advice to Management

Focus on employees, they are very knowledgeable and ready to perform if supported by their management
