    Pros

Tight knit of people who come together and help you out so it feels more like an extended family rather than a job.

    Cons

Being a private contractor you don't get any health care plans or any 401 k plans everything you have to do on your own.

    Advice to Management

Being more approachable to their associates and also helping them out when they first start out as that is the toughest time.

  5. Great for agents at either the high end or low end of production. Mid level agents-not so great.

    Pros

Lots of support & guidance & education. If you are a new agent, they offer lots of training, in person and on line. Mentor programs, a real "corporate feel" if you are in one of their corporate owned offices. If you like that structure then this will be a great fit. Also, if you area top producer, you should be able to negotiate your terms with them.

    Cons

The corporate level consistently tries to find new revenue streams, and often times, it's their own agents that they tap. Certain "pay to play" features for getting leads and using their preferred vendors. If you don't use their website providers you don't get certain leads, even on your own listings. High referral fee for accepting leads through their automated system. 35% referral fee. I was a mid level producer with the company for 10 years, brought in all my own business, handled all my own paperwork, never had to have management step in to save one of my deals, worked from home, but when I asked for a higher commission split, I was told no. I spoke to another broker who charges desk fees. Ran the numbers. I would have made an additional $11000 for 2012 if I went to the desk fee broker. It was a no brainer. At my exit interview with the regional manager, she offered to increase my split, but it was too late. In the corporate run offices, the Manager gets a bonus based on the offices profitability.

    Advice to Management

Management is great, knowledgeable and supportive when you need it, but pay attention to the "bread and butter" agents who don't get a generous split, and who fly under the radar, costing the company almost no money. If they request a better split, consider it. Don't always view your agents as another profit center.

    Pros

Excellent customer service, negotiation, real estate training.

    Cons

One have to be able to grow his/hers own clientele on his own, but share the commission equally without much help from the company at the begging of the career.

    Advice to Management

Pair up new sales reps with experienced. To take off the unwanted customers for smaller share from busy agents, and let new sales people to learn by earning.

    Pros

Great training programs and training materials. Not many fees for sales agents.

    Cons

Micro Managment by Upper Management. Ridiculous reporting. All upper management is far removed from sales experience and thus has lost touch with their core employees. Once you get to Branch Manager you are capped.

    Advice to Management

Consult with your sales agents and branch managers to understand their needs and challenges they face on a daily basis. Reconsider your compensation plan. It truly doesn't pay according to responsibilities. You need to know that in the industry agents say you are out of date and behind the times.

    Pros

In depth training for new agents
    Ongoing support
    Positive atmosphere
    Bright recognizable signage
Good ideas from management on how to generate more business.

    Cons

The leads we get are usually not workable customers but If you are patient once in a while you'll get a decent lead. Just not worth the headache for me.

    Advice to Management

Screen potential buyers on the lead network more thoroughly.

    Pros

Great training and support. Good cooperative teamwork feel in offices.

    Cons

Upper management tracks arguably arbitrary metrics to the point of micro-management so you are not really free to work the way you choose. The methods can work, but they are not for everyone, especially if you are experienced and like doing things your own way. Good company, though.

    Advice to Management

Stop counting prospecting calls. the reporting can't be verified anyway, so your data is questionable.
