Pros
Great co-workers, great members helps me maintain my goal weight.
Cons
Very poor pay, recently announced to employees open on New Years Day, remodeling centers with no respect for employees who are expected to be on their feet for hours. No accommodation made for long time employees who have back or standing issues.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to your front line staff and treat us with respect. We have had no raises in years and increasing attendance does not translate to a higher paycheck. We all stay because of the members and great co-workers not because we are treated well. The new B2B is cheating at work leaders out of money and the new store model is gimicky at best. YOu are alienating our long time members with all the emphasis on etools exclusively and many older members are completely left out of the loop.
Pros
I love helping feel achieve their weight loss goals with motivation and praise
Cons
No incentive by management to bring in or maintain members.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate your employees! Pay us for the various job functions we do for each and every meeting. Do not expect us to contact members without being compensated.
Pros
It feels really good to help people with improving their health and doing something they wouldn't be able to achieve on their own. It's fun to lead meetings and form relationships with so many different people. I made friendships among the members that have endured. Working for Weight Watchers was an excellent way for me to maintain my weight loss and keep my personal wellness at the forefront of my life. The company and the program have a great reputation in the general public as the best in the business.
Cons
The pay is abysmal. Many job functions pay minimum wage. The company does everything it can to pay employees as little as possible. You're expected to read and write emails and take phone calls on your own time. The benefits are good if you can get them, but you have to work a certain number of meetings in order to receive them and management seems to have an incentive to have as few benefited employees as possible. Forget about any type of advancement in this position. I held this job for over 7 years and never received any type of pay raise -- not even cost of living.
Advice to Senior Management
Your service providers are your biggest assets and greatest advertisements for how well the program works. Take some of the millions you spend in advertising and put it toward compensating your hard working employees.
Pros
You have the opportunity to support life changes in members. There is an opportunity to make new friendships in your local meetings. Staff get free meetings, free e tools and magazines.
Cons
Very poor financial compensation, too many after hours mandatory trainings (meetings and conference calls), misleading information regarding meeting compensation, you can expect to work very long hours alone in stores with no relief or support, no tech support for field ( you are expected to do all trouble shooting and most repair)
Advice to Senior Management
Take a look to your past. This company has grown, financially is certainly is a much better bet for the stock holders, but it is coming at the expense and on the backs of staff who are primarily hired for their passion and pride in their own accomplishments. In the past it was a place where I personally had great pride. I would have and did recommend employment as well as membership, now I do have great reservations. This is a very sad thing.
Pros
We are definitely helping people and this job forces you to stay in control of your own weight challenges.
Cons
The pay is terrible. It would be impossible to support yourself, not alone a family if you have any job in the field. The company is a big beaurocracy with very little opportunity for the little guy in the field doing to hard work.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase pay, not only across the board but for recognition of employees. All receptionists make the same; all leaders make the same. There is such disparity in qualitfy of each and yet the pay is equal. Pay employees for time spent on the website which we must read in order to know what's going on in the company. We are encouraged to go to Connections daily but we are not remunerated for this and considering how low the pay is to start, that would be an effective way to get people to become more involved in utilizing the site.
Pros
We changed people's lives for the better. Amazing people in the field committed and passionate about helping people live a healthy life.
Cons
Toxic politics in the corporate office. Lots of game playing. Unproductive meetings. Blame game played. Tremendous lack of support by departments.
Pros
You can work on large scale customer impacting projects.
Cons
The workloads are too difficult impacting morale.
Pros
Enjoy helping others with their weight issues and helps maintain one.s own weight
Cons
Minimum wage for more and more work. <Bosses, come stand in new stores 5 HRS ar 7.25 per
Advice to Senior Management
Occasional acknowledgement of work well done would go a long way toward keeping rmplou=yees happy-Try the service vision on them
Pros
staying at goal
share my knowledge with members.
flexibility
Cons
pay! hours! travel! pitiful benefits! pay pay pay
hire too many that do not enough program knowledge!
Advice to Senior Management
Hire people with more experience and knowledge and pay us what we are worth!
Pros
Being able to help people. Making a difference in someone's life.
Cons
Very low pay for the amount of work. Lots of work outside the meeting. Not given enough time to do my job and constantly asked to do extra stuff that I am not compensated for. Constant problems with supply of products that never seems to get resolved, but if the meeting numbers are down, the leader is blamed and removed.
Advice to Senior Management
Actually work at a traveler and see what is expected of your "front-line" staff.
