Pros
Highly prestigious firm, best location in the city (by central park), great views, good solid work, some headline work, people are generally friendly and helpful, but like in any place there will be some exceptions.
Cons
hours can be insane, high pressure high stakes work. tied to the blackberry and desk. Getting good support staff can be a real crap shoot.
Advice to Senior Management
pay more than lip service to work-life balance
Pros
Top law firm to work, Friendly atmosphere, good management, cafeteria available for meals
very good environment, 35 hour work week.
Cons
I really find it difficult to list cons for this employer. I can imagine other people may have their stories to narrate, I fortunately have none.
Advice to Senior Management
Be flexible
Pros
good people, opportunity to work across offices
Cons
information not shared equally.. Long hours
Advice to Senior Management
None at thismoment
Pros
Things were challenging and rewarding.
Cons
Its a law firm and its pretty dry.
Pros
Incredibly smart and knowledgeable lawyers. Cutting edge work. Good experience to start a career. If you can make it through several years then good prospects for in-house position. Associates are friendly and cooperate among themselves.
Cons
Long hours, small chances to make partner, arrogant partners and the occasional abusive partners. Much lip service to gentler Weil.
Advice to Senior Management
Not in a position to judge management. Good bottom line in difficult times though.
Pros
The best reason to work there is for the full salary compensation for short-term disability, and you will need it by the time you have worked there a few years.
Cons
Way too much middle management!
Advice to Senior Management
Eliminate 50% of the middle management staff.
Pros
great pay, great reputation, interesting work
Cons
long hours, promotions political, horrible support staff, many oddball partners and associates
Advice to Senior Management
improve quality of support staff (e.g., paralegals, secretaries) and career advancement opportunities.
Pros
-Prestigious firm name
-Get exposure to international culture
-Very competitive salary in China
-Able to work independently without too much supervision
Cons
-Everyone is off working on their own. This is great if you like to work independently.
-Economic cycles dictate how much you work. During an economic boom, everyone works overtime.
Advice to Senior Management
-More social events would be appreciated
-New employee induction or training
-Career mentoring would be appreciated by lower ranking employees
Pros
- high compensation
- excellent attorneys
- prestige of firm and clients
- strong financially
Cons
- long hours
- hierarchical
- hard-driving environment
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
work/life balance is possible, but it all depends on the group your in.
Benefits are ok, but much better for lawyers.
Cons
For support staff...no guidance from management. Too much work and little time to mentor/train staff.
IF you have to work late, management makes a big deal about car and meal allowance.
My experience could have been better, but very stressful. It's really hard to complete your work when senior members don't share info...until its too late.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't think management in certain groups care about what staff thinks. your told you should be happy you still have a job. Go figure.
