I have been working at WeiserMazars (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Teams are an important part of the firms culture. Learning on the job at difference clients is a plus. Leaders are involved in projects which helps the overall delivery.

    Cons

Busy season requires many hours of overtime. And the scheduling and related deadlines make life outside of work difficult during tax and audit busy season.

    Advice to Management

Continued growth at the firm will create more opportunities and learning more about the expectations of staff will improve the culture.

I worked at WeiserMazars full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent work life balance within the audit practice, but that's heavily dependent upon which group you're in. Partners in Real Estate are friendly and approachable.

    Cons

In fighting between groups. A lot of "us" vs. "them", especially between the foreign (Mazars) and domestic groups (legacy Weiser).

    Advice to Management

Bridge the gap between the various groups (audit, tax, Mazars) in terms of the "us" vs. "them" mentality. The busy seasons tend to differ between the various groups, which harbors a bit of resentment (audit season is over in the summer, when tax season is ramping up). Mazars busy season is typically Dec-Feb, which leads to domestic audit team harboring resentment.

I have been working at WeiserMazars full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some really nice, smart, talented co-workers and provided a reasonable work-life balance.

    Cons

There was a strong element of a 'good old boys' network that made it difficult to maneuver. Very political culture where people were afraid to take chances and make unpopular or unconventional choices. The Executive level is insincere and make all decisions based on how they will individually benefit.

    Advice to Management

Start acting more like a large, multinational firm, not a local 'see-what-I-can-grab' firm. Weizer always had a decent reputation in the NY market and being joined with Mazars should really help - don't blow it with greed and short sightedness.
