Current Employee – been working at WellCare full-time for less than a year
Pros – Pay is good... PTO is ok, if you ever get a chance to use it!
Cons – Work not at all challenging. Day spent staring into space waiting for slow systems to run. No independence or ownership of work. Told often to just do something because that's what was done before. No one understands what they're doing in my department, because they just continue to do what others before them have done. I was led to believe that my position would be analytical when in fact it is the farthest thing from it. I left a REALLY good job because of the false description of this position. And now I can't wait to get out of here. I also feel like a child working here, email and social media are blocked, you almost have to beg to work from home (which they deny), they consider flexible scheduling as choosing b/n working 8-5 or 9-6 (not at all what I would consider flexibilty) and my dept expects everyone to be at their desks at all times (even though I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do for 7.5 hours out of my 8 hour day). I feel like I asked alot of questions at my interview to decipher if it would be a good fit (since I was completely happy with my previous employment) and feel like i was misled into signing on. Not at all surprised at the high turnover rate. If I can't lie about my qualifications, an employer shouldn't lie about job expectations.
Advice to Senior Management – Make job expectations clear & be honest because you only waste time & money having to replace people who are unhappy about doing a job they didn't sign up for.

Former Employee – worked at WellCare full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – pay and benefits. good people but soon they get laid off or quit.
Cons – poor management, back stabbing, blame game, lack of communication, lack of team effort, and more. I came to work one day and told me " we don't need your services BUT we have a job offer for lower pay and lower jobtitle." Within 4 years I had 4 different managers. it seems They had no clue what I did at the company. High turn-over! avoid this place if you can.
Advice to Senior Management – so more appreciation for the grunts that does all the work. stop back stabbing, stop the blaming when things go wrong, so more support for your staff.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at WellCare full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – None at all at this company!
Cons – Shady company and new HS upper management all are new and noone is sure where they came from but they have NO CLUE how to run an HMO!
Environment is hostile. People are over worked. No recognition at all !!!
The list of cons is endless actually. :( It's sad.
Advice to Senior Management – Question every move these "new" VP's and directors make because they go against everything managed care means and find time to talk to your teams and let them know what is going on in that crazy place!
Better yet... Just tell everyone to find a new job because this place sucks.. And I was management there for 6 years! Run!!!! Everyone !!

Current Employee – been working at WellCare
Pros – Competitive salary, decent benefits. Pay is among the top in the area, but don't expect much in terms of raises or promotions. Bonuses are good as well. There is a nice gym. That's it.
Cons – Poorly managed. Leadership is severely lacking. There is more backbiting and finger-pointing than team-building. Everyone feels like they are in the dark. Wellcare's has no choice but to pay a competitive salary because it's one of the only benefits of working there. Problem is, retention is very low. Most of the people I work with see no future at Wellcare and are only waiting for a better opportunity to come along before they jump ship. There is no opportunity for growth because promotions are based on who you know and not what you know. In a better economy, Wellcare will see an exodus of employees. The low morale is infectious. I'm guessing even Tony Robbins would be frustrated working here.
Advice to Senior Management – Guess what...YOU are the problem! Log onto glassdoor.com and read the reviews about your company. They've been negative for YEARS! Do something about it and stop insulting everyone's intelligence by giving the impression that serious issues don't exist. Get down off your high horses and address the elephant in the room! Graphs and pie charts about quarterly growth mean little to the guy who's slaving away to get you there, but still isn't sure where his future with the company stands. Poll your employees and ask them what they really think.

Current Employee – been working at WellCare
Pros – If you apply your-self, Wellcare can be a great place to work. There are great benefits and many opportunities to make a name for your-self. The benefits are great, and depending on how much you give to Wellcare and how reasonable your manager is, you can have pretty flexible hours.
Cons – Some Micro management
Bad cross communication
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to balance your own life before asking your employee's to give of themselves more. Some of us have families, so when I'm giving 9-10hrs a day, and you ask for more, then you're going to get less out of me.
Learn to be approachable and personable (get some social skills).
Learn that weekends are for recouping, so that Monday we come back stronger.
Learn to communicate better and with less words (when i want to leave, i don't want to spend 15mins about how you were right and the others aren't).
Learn to trust your associates. If after 2 years you have to tell me exactly every little detail of how to do my job, then either you are paying me too much or you have trust issues.
LEARN TO TAKE A DEEP BREATH, TAKE A STEP BACK, AND RE EXAMINE YOUR PRIORITIES. NO ONE IS DYING AND YOU ARE NOT LOSING YOUR JOB.

Current Employee – been working at WellCare
Pros – They offer good benefits than other corporations.
Cons – The annual focal point is unfair. "They expect the nurse to do the surgery, so to speak".
Advice to Senior Management – Provide a justifiable annual review where the lowest associates are treated with respect. My team did not qualify for the "exceeded expectation" rating even with flying metrics because we do not handle emergency issues (something that is beyond our scope).

Current Employee – been working at WellCare
Pros – The company does provide stability for workers that know what they are doing
Cons – IT's lack of communication with the rest of Operations on issues that should be escalated as potential issues.
Advice to Senior Management – seek those employee that show they care about the company and help them reach their full potential and increase moral and customer service.
