    I worked at WellCare

    Pros

good benefits for health and dental

    Cons

very non-consistant information. Management is never available and does not even know what they are doing to help if you do need it. management gets away with whatever they want such as treating each employee differently and their favorites get what ever they want.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

put someone in management that knows what they are doing and ensure they treat each employee the same.

I have been working at WellCare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Money and benefits are very good. Lots of extras for discounts on various products via the purchasing power plans they have which can really save you money.

    Cons

Absolutely zero communication between departments. Not one person understands the business as a whole. The companies overall approach to getting anything done is to go through multiple layers of "corporate red tape". Pertinant information is not distributed to all that need to know, but is freely given to many who don't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a team which can create a full corporate communication strategy and who will also be given the authority to implement the plan.

We are also losing very qualified, highly intelligent associates and managers who should not be waking out the doors due to the lack of currently open positions. The historical knowledge within these individuals should be highly sought after, but yet we simply watch them walk out the door.

I have been working at WellCare as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The team I work with is very knowledgeable and eager to share

    Cons

The pay for consultants is very low compared to similar companies. I worry what a conversion rate might be.

Let's face it. This is a terrible company run by really bad people.

I have been working at WellCare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tampa is nice. Salary is good. Weather can't be beat.

    Cons

The company management is beyond the pale terrible. The company is top heavy with really bad people. The money at the top reflects the great divide in the general economy. Hired in the middle or the bottom? Get out because you won't get a promotion. Hired at the top? Make your money now because you are one quarter away from being fired. This company operates Medicare and Medicaid programs and the management is made up of Republicans laughing their way to the bank as they rip off the government. Before accepting a job here make sure to review the last 2 years of SEC filings. The company cut earnings by half and then borrowed money for operations while buying up failing companies across the country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. They don't care. They are banking their checks and trying to get out.

Great business sponsors, but the IT department is suffering from lack of IT management accountability.

I worked at WellCare as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The business partners are great to work with and knowledgeable in respective subject areas. The business personnel are friendly and easy to work with. The business teams work hard to compensate for the IT department's poor performance, IT management ethics and lack of accountability.

    Cons

The IT department lacks ethnic diversity and is primarily made up of H1B contractors. Reverse discrimination tactics are used within the IT department to remove personnel who challenge management performance or management's preferred IT personnel. Impropriety vendor selection and reimbursement may be present within the IT department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice is for senior executive management and the governing board of directors. If an evaluation of the IT department's mode of operation and accountability is not performed, the organization, as a whole, will continue to lag behind the industry and inevitably be subject to Federal oversight as witnessed in May 2009.

I have been working at WellCare

    Pros

Excellent pay; great benefits; opportunity to work from home

    Cons

Don't even know where to begin...this company has no direction; unraveling daily; high turn overs; no support from management. Very number driven..you could be a great professional if you are not bringing the numbers they could care less..high chance to fail.no support; work life balance is unheard off..don't apply with this company if you value your life and yourself...their doors will close if they continue like this..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know what you are doing..it's so clear you dont. Putting pressure on staff to bring up numbers doesn't work.look at why most of your departments are subpar..because of poor leadership. You are killing the backs of your employees rolling out so many new changes and poor leaders implementing them. It's deplorable!!

I loved working for this company and felt it invested in their hard working Associates. New leadership changed that.

I have been working at WellCare full-time

    Pros

Nice campus, onsite cafeteria, decent compensation when bonus is paid out

    Cons

No longer invests in their employees, HR sweeps Associate complaints under the rug without proper investigation, and issues an Associate Survey, but does not address the findings which are the same or getting worse year over year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your Associates. Complaints have been raised and are not being taken seriously and knowledge capital is walking out the door and being replaced with the Telco industry.
