The benefits are good and the organization is respected in the community.
Cons
The points system is kind of degrading. However, the reason that it is in place makes it a necessary evil.
Advice to Senior Management
Although healthcare is big business, Wellmont does a good job of staying patient focused. There is always room for improvement. However, overall, I think they do a pretty good job.

Advice to Senior Management
I think all leaders should have a knowledge of every position that they manage from entry-level all the way to the top.

Advice to Senior Management
Please continue to be as supportive and caring of your employees as you have in the last 13 years, Thank you for the opportunity to have meaningful employment in a beautiful setting.
Pros
WPS has allowed me to be a working mom and wife. My family is my top priority, and the management and my team members allow me the ability to accomplish that role, yet while working with some amazing people. I am very thankful to WHS for the opportunity to work with and serve an awesome community.
Cons
I do not have any concerns that I would consider cons to working for WHS.
Advice to Senior Management
I think my foremost advice to management is to try to treat each entity of the health system and its employers the same...each hospital, each off site campus, each owned physician practice. We are all one team, with one common goal --- keeping our patients healthy and safe.
Pros
Patients are number 1 , coworkers are concerned for you . everyone strives to be a team player.a new adventure everyday.
Cons
salaries need to look at and compared with others around the area in bristol
Advice to Senior Management
trust employees more, give more positive feedback , always look for the best in employees
Pros
The best reasons to work for Wellmont are the pay, job security, benefits - even for part time employees - there are health programs that PAY you to be healthy with each paycheck. I receive payment for health club membership. Every paycheck has extra money on it that I receive for maintaining my weight, blood pressure, and for not smoking. I also received a retirement matching plan, even as a part time employee. THere are also benefits of working for such as large system as advertisement of my services, business cards and brochures. THere are plenty of in-house educational opportunities as well, both related to my job as well as general interest - like financial investment information or personal safety.
Cons
There are some downsides to working for Wellmont Health System. Benefits such as travel for CME are the first things to get cut in economy crunch. This was not made clear at time of employement. Being a part of a very large system such as this, one could get lost in the numbers - it is more difficult to stand out and make a difference. It is also more difficult to wade through the red tape to get even small stuff such as office supplies! If one waives benefits, there is additional pay on the hour. However, there is a cap on this, so more highly compensated employees do not get full benefit of this waiver of benefits - for instance instead of the full 20% - I am only getting around 14%.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide adequate communication to part time employees as well as full time employees.
