Great for entry level heatlhcare professionals only

    Wellness Coach (Former Employee)

ProsGood starting salary and great benefits/reimbursements. Coaches will provide authentic help to those that need it. Family-friendly work schedule. Unless you work at central office, there is no one looking over your shoulders to do your job. Great coach-training programs.

ConsManagement definitely exudes a 'good ol' boys club' mentality. You will not advance unless you were hired for that specific reason or are personal friends with those in the central office. Senior leadership are micro-managers to middle management/supervisors. Supervisors have very little experience in managing subordinates and effectively dealing with clients, creating a low level of trust and respect amongst the coaches.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere has always been a huge disconnect between the coaches in the field and the middle managment/supervisors. There is not clearly defined roles of the supervisors to the coaches, which creates confusion on a monthly basis.

    Lack of leadership

    Wellness Coach (Former Employee)

ProsThey pay you real money. I did not like anything else about this position.

ConsTerrible rotating schedule based on your sites
    No formal training
No defined expectations on your daily responsibilities
    No career path

Whole business seems like a con game to me. Handing out information on a wellness topic is not an "encounter" yet this place counts it as such. If my current employer wanted to partner with WCUSA I would tell them to save their money.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet over yourselves.

If your goal is an easy job with fair compensation, you have found your place!

Wellness Coach (Current Employee) Kansas City, MO

ProsYou get paid well for your job duties. Limited responsibilities may be a perk for some, but others will grow bored due to lack of challenges/responsibilities.

Independent work environment. You don't have someone looking over your shoulder all the time.

Job is simple: Keep your clients happy and management will be happy as well.

Job can be fulfilling, but clients are often blue collar companies such as manufacturing, construction, and transportation which can give coaches a unique set of challenges to overcome.

ConsVery limited interaction with Management, your client feels more like your employer than Wellness Coaches USA.

Can't take more than 40 hours PTO in a 3 month time period. If you take a week for the holidays, you must wait another 90 days to use any PTO.

Can't cash out PTO at end of year or when leaving the company

Management is more concerned with your total coaching numbers than with the quality of the coaching sessions. You may start to feel like you are "pushing" wellness on the employees.

Significant driving distances are often required depending on client locations.

Limited opportunity for career growth, you are either a coach or you move into management where you are totally removed from many of the reasons you entered this profession in the first place.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to create a better culture where employees feel valued. They do everything they can to save a penny and it is very apparent throughout the company. Expensive healthcare, very limited educational reimbursement, and selfish rules regarding PTO, make it clear Wellness Coaches does what is in the best interest of the company and not the employees.

Good company but no way advance your career

    Wellness Coach (Former Employee)

ProsEnjoy working with a wide range of people

    Flexibility and independence with customers
    Other coaches extremely helpful
    Good resources
    Excellent training and mentoring coach

ConsPeople promoted not based on merit or ability
Promises of career advancement, no actual career paths to follow
Management pushes for number of consults not always concerned about quality
Operations management team very inexperienced in how to manage employees
No longer paying very well, with expensive and poor healthcare benefits for a wellness company
Needs to improve relationship with coaches
Senior management over-communicates unimportant things and under communicates important information

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs treat coaches better and build on their mentoring program. Communicate better with coaches and work with employees on developing a career. Communicate when employees are promoted to management. Mostly they need to practice what they preach.

    Overall, a very good experience!!

    Wellness Coach (Former Employee)

Pros- Management is young and ambitious.

    - Above average salary and pretty good benefits

    - Co-workers are great and company is team-oriented

Cons- You are contracted to a seperate company, so upper management has limited knowledge of how each coach performs on a day-to-day basis

    - Very few opportunities for advancement/professional development

    - Company seems to be operating very lean

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your coaches, especially the ones who are talented and goal-oriented. Offer more oportunities for advancement, even if they are small to start with. Continue providing superior customer service to all of your large clients, who are looking to expand, but do not forget about the smaller ones who count as well.

    meh

    Wellness Coach (Current Employee)

ProsLots of freedom on job, immediate supervisor is not over your shoulder. The job itself is pretty good, depends on the population you are working with.

ConsYou feel like an employee of the company you are serving at times. Wellness literature provided by company is sometimes incorrect and needs to be updated. Home office is a joke, the HR person is cranky and unhelpful. They are also unfair when it comes to PT and FT employees. (FT get holidays off, PT do not, even if your clients are all on holiday, you must still come in!)

Advice to Senior ManagementMake it fair for PT employees. Have a person dedicated to finding current/ correct research.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great start in the wellness field

    Wellness Coordinator (Former Employee)

Prostotal compensation and flexibility are the best perks within Wellness Coaches USA. Professional growth and advancement is also a plus when looking at your first career in the wellness field.

ConsLimited areas even though nationwide company. Must put in the work and do extras to move up. Going through many changes now and unsure of end result.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees right. Some employees are more deserving for promotions/raises and are left out due to others view of them and not their work ethic and proven successes.
