Challenging banker

Personal Banker I (SAFE) (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 3 years

Pros401k match is great at 6% . PTO and vacation days are great. Benefits are great as well and it is easy to move up within the company because they tend to hire mostly from within.

ConsPressure from upper management is unrealistic. You need to have two checking acct appts at a minimum per day and in the Cherokee county district 3 credit card apps per day. Also, expectation is often unrealistic and you can't just expect to work here and sit in your office or desk and expect to get sales. The compensation bonuses are like 1000 max per quarter IF you go way above your quota which the way the market is, not a lot of ppl are hitting it. As a banker, don't expect to be offered more than 15.10 an hour and that is with experience. Turnover rate is absolutely appalling.

Advice to Senior ManagementDistrict managers need to quit trying to micromanage everything and making employees irritated because that's why turnover is so high.

– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Big Bank

Mortgage Consaultant (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 3 years

ProsDecent Culture, the company has been killing it and sometimes will chip in profit sharing, health insurance is affordable, if you are a middle manager you can get lost forever.

ConsPoor comp plan, I over heard my manager say he could get a monkey to do this job.

Advice to Senior ManagementCheck in with the people that are making you all his money. The process needs a complete overhaul that cannot get done with technology alone. Break out teams to figure this out and implement in pieces. There is less than zero % accountability for execution once sales has been made. Customer Loyalty is a sham and you know it. Ask customers how they feel- they hate Well Fargo.

High-pressure, low-return retail sales environment

Teller (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than a year

ProsBenefits; nation-wide network of branches

ConsHorrendous district and region-level management; incompetent in-store leaders; dishonest sales tactics; rock-bottom compensation.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop focusing so much on sales and revenue and think a little bit more about the way you treat your employees and customers.

Fairly decent company to work for - probably on par with competitors.

Personal Banker (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 8 years

ProsFriendly people to work with. Industry leading reputation. Decent support network from managers when needed. Most managers (DM's and above) have positive attitudes about work and production. Wells actively promotes from within - lots of opportunities.

ConsIncentive goals are set above what most bankers achieve. Incentive pay schedule is poor. Cost of living pay increases are non existent, let alone a real raise. Managers micro manage.
Some managers don't know how to manage (don't have management skills)

You give everything you've got, and don't get much in return.

Senior Mortgage Originator (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 10 years

ProsA lot of autonomy. Must be a self starter.

ConsYou work yourself to death, and each year they expect more and pay less!!

Advice to Senior ManagementYou should reward your top performers and weed out the low performers quicker.
