Pros
Flexible schedule, telecommuting, focus on one specific area of technology, 401K program
Cons
opportunity for advancement, social nepotism, more concerned about dollars then about people or doing the right thing unless they will get slapped by regulators
Advice to Senior Management
get to know your product area, and rely on your subject matter experts. support your team and communicate corporate information downstream
Pros
401k, company match
dental, vision benefits good,
it's a job
there really are no other positives for working there that I could think of.
Cons
Wells is nothing like Wachovia. Employees miserable, difference between night and day between Wachovia and Wells Fargo.
Do not appreciate hard work, good numbers, strong work ethics.
Want you to slam job products on clients all day.
no empowerment at all
managers scared to speak up on your behalf
Advice to Senior Management
Take employee ideas outside your local meeting
look to help employees get ahead in the company
dont sit at your desk all day googling then ride your employees to work harder
don't sell out talent to replace with college kids
Pros
benefits are good, paid time off
Cons
do not like to pay, high pressure to meet sales and even push clients that say no, non promotable to those that came from mereger of Wachovia, push high tenure employees out
Pros
great collegues that are around. Some of my closest freinds may be some of my co-workers. The pay is fairly decent especially for someone right out of highschool
Cons
its all sales sales sales. There is no real time to sit down with the client and the products getting pushed are not in their best interests.
Advice to Senior Management
Find out what motivates each employee and play on their strengths not weaknesses.
When you have an employee who day in and day out applies themselves and their numbers speak for themselves allow that individual to keep his method of business rather than change their style.
Pros
Good Benefit program
Pay is competitive compared to other financial institutions
Overall decent environment
Cons
At the retail banking level you will depend on your store manager to advance within this company. My particular manager is not supportive of helping me to advance, and in some ways has been holding me back. You can be a top performer and recognized for your work and still seem to be stuck in the banker role. Your manager and District Manager are key to you moving up, but be prepared to move out.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize your talent. Get a clue when it comes to determining goals for each branch. Understand that people only need so many checking account's.
Pros
Your colleagues, good banking company reputation, opportunities
Cons
Time flexibility, compensation, short sighted
Advice to Senior Management
The attitude towards the bankers is somewhat of a "what have you done for me today attitude." You are only as good as yesterday. Which in the beginning can be somewhat motivational but over the long term can lead to depleting moral.
Pros
Wells Fargo has a tuition reimbursement program. They are very flexible with work and school schedule. They also offer great time off benefits.
Cons
Once you are in a position, you are stuck there. They change job responsibilities and don't compensate you for it.
Advice to Senior Management
Management always thinks about what is most convenient for them, not what will benefit the team. Take a closer look at team morale and that will tell you a lot. A lot of people are looking else where because concerns don't get addressed.
Pros
Amount of PTO and vacation time given per calendar year.
Cons
Lack of communication between managers and staff, lack of recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize your employees in some fashion, they work long hard hours and deserve at least that.
Pros
My work is not very hard and it keeps me busy
Flexible when it comes to time off, appointments, etc.
Cons
Pay is crap
They do not show appreciation for the work that you do
Raises are lousy
They cut benefits it a less ideal package because it is economically feasible...The company itself, at least in my office, seems to be very low on education
Advice to Senior Management
Hire people who have common sense
Pros
- Friendly and supportive atmosphere
- Employees can become experts at what they do, since positions tend to have a narrow focus
Cons
- Workload tends to have steep peaks and valleys
- The organization does not convert contractors to full-time, thus causing a constant churn of people leaving and new people coming on board
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest that the organization consider converting highly qualified contractors to full-time employees. I saw many talented and dedicated contractors leave because their contract ended. This constant churn impacts the speed at which projects get completed.
