Great way to get your foot in the door

    Personal Banker I (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsI met some great people working for Wells, and found it to be an overall great company to work for with plenty of opportunity to move up and gain endless experience in the banking industry.

ConsThere is a consistent tendency of hiring successful sales people for management positions, when in reality, they really should hire managers for management positions. Yes, you are expected to hit some pretty difficult sales goals, but depending on who you work for, you may or may not enjoy your days of selling to every person that walks through the door. Personally speaking, I enjoyed the challenge of sales, and for a while, was not bothered by the daily sales commitment - unfortunately, that all changes when you have an unbearable manager who knows nothing about managing. There is nothing worse than having to maintain a very delicate balance between holding true to your personal integrity and ethics, while satisfying sales goals set by an extremely unethical manager. Sometimes, you get a great branch, other times, you get the branch with the crazy lunatic manager that will loophole their way around every ethics issue in the book. Either way, many have found that no matter how great the benefits are, how many promotions they receive, or how many opportunities they've been granted, you can only handle so much before you completely burn out under the daily sales pressure and the consistent need to do a quick morals check.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay closer attention to the managers you hire, not everyone understands the need to prioritize ethical conduct above the need to hit the sales goal for the day.

If you enjoy sales, Wells Fargo retails is the place to go.

Customer Service and Sales Representative (Current Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsGood incentive if you hit goals.

ConsCustomer satisfaction surveys can hinder your moving up in the company. Pressure from management on getting sales from each and every customer. Pressure customers into signing up for products that they do not need.
