Pros
Collegial relationships with co-workers
Impressive upper management
Casual dress work environment
Personal attention in reference to achievements & meeting goals
Cons
Micromanagement
Pressure to sell products, whether customers need them or not
Inadequate tech support & resources
Pretense of "professionalism"
Low salaries
Unrealistic goals
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize that customer service sometimes means not pushing products on people who don't want/need/understand them.
Require at least a nodding acquaintance with proper English grammar & syntax. People who cannot speak a single sentence without adding "like" are not appropriate representatives of a solid financial institution.
Pros
large company, stability, decent flexibility around hours, decent benefits.
Cons
management is consistently poor and reorganized frequently. employees are not treated equally.
Advice to Senior Management
stop worrying about creating cheer leaders for managers and address issues with individuals rather than groupthink. also, issues escalated to HR always fall in favor of the manager, so it doesn't do any good to try to resolve with them.
Pros
Enormous company offers endless routes of growth, good benefits, including tuition reimbursement, very supportive of continued education, fun group activities in local markets.
Cons
Retail banking can seem unethical at times when sales are desperately needed. Senior management seems to pick favorites, and hold grudges.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead by example when searching for a quick sales, don't resort to unethical practices and then be surprised when your employees follow your lead.
Pros
Strong, large company with many departments and job openings. Spend alot of time training employees and pay is ok. Some managers are supportive
Cons
Full time emoployees don't respect contractors. They treat them as second class employees. And watch out if you do a better job. Can be alot of inter departmental fighting and non support
Advice to Senior Management
Higher the best and get rid of the rest. If a contractor does a better job then higher full time and get rid of the non productive Full time employee
Pros
Benefits, promotional cash bonus, and they start out at 4 weeks vacation
Cons
Short staffed and overworked in the retail side. Long hours and no breaks
Advice to Senior Management
reward efficiency and customer service
Pros
The people are great, incentive compinsation is pretty good, if you can meet it. Your opportunity to move up in the complany is great, if your number are there.
Cons
Sales goals are super strict, your always selling selling selling, i hope that doesn't get old for you, or you won't last. Senior management does not understand with this economy the goals cannot continue to increase, or everyone is going to fail at some point. Be prepared to work long hours and stay late some nights if your sales are not met for the day, week, month etc. It is a very very very stressful work environment once you hit personal banker and beyond.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a better look at the economy, and the areas your stores are in, you need to understand the stress you cause all of your retail employees. Its makes the company look bad to employees, and the bank overall look bad to customers when they are always hounded with sales.
Pros
If you hit your numbers you can do anything
if you dont they help you to hit your numbers
very supportive
Cons
a year minimum in current position
Advice to Senior Management
keep doing what you are doing
Pros
Lots of activity and diversity in assignments
Cons
LIttle growth opportunities. Preference for younger, cheaper staff. Experience matters little.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate experience and promote professional growth.
Pros
Wonderul team. Fast-paced environment but everyone is extremely efficient to meet goals. Very helpful and friendly people in the organisation. They'll never make you feel like an outsider or contractor.
Cons
Pay is great too.. the only problem is that if you are a contractor, your opportunities to become permanant are meager for the next few years at least and definately after completing 18 months of service only.
Advice to Senior Management
Gauge performance and allow growth.. dont wait for 18 months.. Management has very strict requirements for not hiring permanant employees
Pros
benefits and great for college students.
Cons
managers are incompetent and only want to beat other branches and do not care about the long term commitments.
Advice to Senior Management
Care for your employees and clients
