Pros
It seemd like positions higher then the teller position were treated well. The pay for bankers was good as was the bonuses
Cons
The company gives off the feeling that they dont really care about their customers. The pay is not that great considering how big the company is. And Ive never seen a company so micro managed
Advice to Senior Management
Make the work place more then just sales focused and a little more about the customer. The micro managing needs to relax a little, Management shouldnt be on the phone with other management (conference calls) all the time instead of helping customers
Pros
Well managed...decisions are made top down, with some employee input. Engagement concern from managment is important but challenging to communicate to employees who are already disengaged.
Cons
If you enjoy fast pace, operations may not be right for you. Some departments are very slow or have too many chiefs vs indians
Advice to Senior Management
Engage...and be positive with team members. Trust in your team members and recognize where each perspective is derived to avoid assumptions.
Pros
Great benefits, great senior leadership (CEO, CFO,etc.).
Cons
Retail banking at Wells Fargo is a true grind. All they care about are numbers and sales. Managers will look the other way when people are doing unethical things to get sales as long as they don't get caught. No interest in developing good, long term employees. Extremely hard to get out of retail and they don't teach any transferrable skills unless you want to be a used car salesman. I think if the executive level management knew what was going on in retail they would throw up in their mouths.
Advice to Senior Management
Nuture employees and develop them. Its a waste to pay and train them and not develop them into future leaders.
Pros
Wells has good communication between tellers and upper management. Lots of paid time off.
Cons
Same job over and over again. The only way to move up inthe company is to sell customers solutions they don't need so you can get your sells. My store manager was so dumb she could not even process a simple deposit. All about who you know and not what you know.
Advice to Senior Management
Review all managers for skills and knowledge. Make a better compensation plan. Two dollars a sale is pretty bad. You work all quarter long for a bonus and you get around 150 buck after tax for a three month bonus.
Pros
The culture of the company was pretty laid back and the job offered the opportunity to work with many different people in different areas. Great job for students in college.
Cons
Not a lot of opportunity for advancement and career development. Somewhat monotonous.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees. Don't just dictate orders such as sales goals, etc. Seek more employee feedback.
Pros
good benefits, medical, dental, vision
Cons
very little growth opportunity. degree not required for most service jobs
Advice to Senior Management
better one on one coaching with supervisors
Pros
Stable job, you know what you are required to do. At times, it can feel a bit rah rah rah, but overall I was proud to work for this prestigeous company . Very work hard, play hard.
Cons
While they preach about being customer focused, this is a sales job through and through. My only gripe about this place was the sales focus and how hard it was pushed.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing really, you have a business model established. Perhaps you could try and improve marketing so certain products are easier to understand.
Pros
The benefit package is solid. The people you work with are fun to be around. Solid collections experience, WF auto collectors know the business of getting a payment from habitual late payers.
Cons
Managers are the real supervisors. Assigned sups are glorified Collectors with titles. None of the supervisor receive professional training outside of the department, very few had college degrees beyond Associate status.
Advice to Senior Management
Makes serious changes about ramdom drug testing. Stop grouping everyone as the guilty party whenever a problem arises. Be honest with addressing issues individually as they occur with that employee.
Pros
Wells Fargo seems like a well-managed company that treats its employees well. The work-life balance is excellent. Projects are well planned and so deadlines are met with greater success and lower stress.
Cons
As a large organization in a highly regulated industry, the environment is fairly boring and rigid.
Advice to Senior Management
No complaints here whatsoever. My immediate supervisor is an excellent manager, intelligent and hardworking. And from the small amount of time I have spent here it seems like they treat their employees very fairly.
Pros
Wells Fargo prefers more-experienced people. They really encourage employees to spend time with their families and on support for the community (charity events and the like).
Cons
Neighbors will tell you about what a lousy banking experience they've had with Wells. Wells emphasizes fee income and has some real quality issues that affect their reputation.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on quality.
